Oh dear, it can’t be a good omen for the future of Nicolas Cage’s career when his marriage has been all over the media for hours now without getting a Cafe Society thread devoted to it.
Anyone want to start a “who will Lisa Marie marry next?” pool along Celebrity Death Pool lines?
I can’t remember who her first husband was, I think some struggling redneck musician (but I’m probably wrong) so we’ll skip him.
2nd hubby - Jacko, the self-annointed “King of Pop”. I think you know his story.
3rd hubby - Nic Cage, slightly odd, goofy-looking actor who is a big Elvis fan and played a guy guy fixated on the King in Wild At Heart.
I think I see a pattern emerging here, so I vote for hubby #4 being an actual Elvis impersonator.
The more important question is “Why does the media consider Lisa Marie a celebrity?” Consider the fact that outside of her famous parents and her equally famous 2nd husband she has NO CLAIM TO CELEBRITY AT ALL!!!
She’s never acted(Michael’s video and MTV appearances don’t count).
She’s never recorded(altho I have heard rumours going back YEARS about her supposed solo album that she was going to release but always mysteriously gets yanked beforehand).
She’s never written anything(not even a tell-all book!!).
She’s never had any “pet causes” like Princess Di’s land-mine thing.
She’s never shown the slightest interest in politics.
She mainly seems to be famous just for the simple fact of her being Elvis’ daughter.
So given that, why would I be at all interested in who she marries next?(Just for the record, it seems to me she married, in order,dirt poor, filthy rich, and now she’s got someone sort of in the middle.)

I’m just surprised that other “celebrity news” (cough) gets almost instant threads and despite pretty wide publicity (heck, cnn carried the story), and no-one posted about it before me (and even then it was many hours after the story hit the news services).
I think it’s sad because Nic Cage used to be quite the anti-Scientologist. Lisa Marie couldn’t get Jacko to become a $cieno, so maybe she’ll be as equally unsuccessful with Cage. Then she’ll divorce him and try some other poor schmuck.
Maybe this marriage i$ the rea$on Nic old hi comic book collection, tho$e auditing $e$$ion$ can get expen$ive.
I know that was overkill, but I rarely get a change to use the dollar sign on my keyboard…
