Must be nice. It rarely happens to us, but I really object to leaving good wine to be poured out or snuck by the staff. If I could take the rest of the bottle home to enjoy before bed, I would in a heartbeat.
I’ve had it last until the next day at lunch. It was still good and I didn’t get sick so that’s always a plus.
This is why I always eat my leftover steak cold. Same with pork chops.
Without fail, I have leftover everything whenever we go out to eat dinner. I very rarely get to eat my own leftovers unless I threaten my husband’s life. At any rate, if something comes with fries, I will eat two or three (displaying iron will) and the rest will go home with us, going onto the husband’s ass-fat rather than my own.
At my house, we write death messages on the styrofoam. It started out innocently enough, just names and dates and the contents of the box but it soon got extremely ugly…

Fried Chicken. I don’t care what y’all say, I’m not touchin’ it the next day.
Cold leftover steak is great on a salad. I too like it rare, but I can almost never finish a whole one at a restaurant, they’re too big.
I’ll slice the steak over some fancy greens for a fine salad.
Nothing. Really. I don’t “do” leftovers. In any way, shape or form. I can’t - I get physically sick. Seriously. I can’t deal with eating leftovers.
I also don’t really go out to eat so it’s a moot point.
If we ever DO bring anything home, it’s the husband who does and he will bring just about anything. Except salad of course.
Fondue the next day is pretty gross, so is undercooked day old bacon.
Is it a physical thing or a psychological thing?
No one in my house eats leftovers but me. I love getting a huge medium-rare steak for dinner on a Friday night and then cooking the leftover steak until it is medium or almost well done the next morning for steak and eggs. I would say that most fast food is really bad for reheating, but mexican can be done if you keep your tomatos, lettuce, sour cream et al seperate from your reheatables. My wife makes the best eggrolls but I have never found a way to make them stay nice and crunchy either later in the day or the next day. They are good when they are soggy, but they are incredible fresh out of the fryer.
Any sort of chicken always seems to turn to rubber for me the next day.
I agree about the toaster oven OR just eating it cold . . . the problem with leftovers is that they’re always dried out from reheating. The microwave is a bad idea for most. The toaster oven is the way to go, or in the case of pizza/steak, just eat it cold.
The only thing I can think of that gets nasty is fish. The rest, for the most part, can still be pretty good the next day if stored/reheated properly.
Totally psychological.
Maybe I’ll try the toaster oven thing one of these days. But even cold pizza disgusts me, after its gone in the fridge I want nothing to do with it.
I chop leftover steak into cubes and use it for the meat in chili.
Beats hamburger!
Ice cream too obvious?
Red beans & rice from Popeye’s. Bleah.
Wait, the best way to reheat cold pizza is with a cast iron skillet. Slide your slice on the skillet, turn on the gas, and let the bottom get a bit crispy. Turn off the heat and let the residual heat melt the cheese. Hands down better than any other possible method.
