No doggy bag, please. Foods that don't make good leftovers.

Ratatouille.

Then again, I won’t even touch the stuff piping hot. I don’t even wanna think about what it’d be like cold.

I’ve got a similar technique, but I use a non-stick pan, a touch of olive oil, and a microwave the slice for about 15-20 seconds before I stick it on the pan. Gives me a nice crisp crust pizza, which is nearly impossible to get in Illinois outside of the Famiglia’s Pizza at the Tollway Oases…

I used to visit a town with a Mongolian Barbecue (basically DIY stir-fry). Like most restauraunts of this type, it was all-you-can-eat and it was wonderful the next day reheated or cold. It was a little on the expensive side but I figured I got two good meals out of it so it was worth it. Now where I live we have a similar restauraunt that is also all-you-can-eat but they don’t let you take home any leftovers.

It makes me so mad, because I never eat much in one sitting so it is a near-complete waste of $12.

Growing up I had this problem also. I would always write my name and date on everything and my brother would just “not see it”. finally one day I wrote “Not Tommy’s Pizza” on a sticky note and taped it to the tin foil.

I came downstairs the next morning and he was chomping away on my pizza. I started yelling at him asking him if he saw the note at all. Beaming, he thanked me for being so considerate as to save him a piece. I asked him if he read the note.

He answered that he had read the note. It said:

"Note, Tommy’s Pizza"

:smack: :smack:

and he was always clueless enough about everything that I can believe that’s what he actually thought he read.

Anything deep fried. Grease tastes great the few minutes after it’s first fried. Anytime after that, it’s just slimey.

Once I brought home some chocolate soufflé in a glass ramekin that the restaurant’s owner kindly said I could keep. I put it in the fridge. The next day, I found that the soufflé had shriveled down until it resembled a tough brown pancake. I gave it to my pet rats, and they loved it.

I discovered a long time ago that reheating anything with lettuce and tomato on it is a one-way trip to nasty. I now remove these things before storing the food, and life is better.

I am rather trial-and-error about my leftovers; I will attempt to save just about anything except seafood. if I open the box and the smell removes my appetite, into the trash it goes.

Is it just plate-leftovers? I can see that being icky… but like if you make a huge lasagna, do you not eat the rest that was in the pan?
