I was board and trying to find a good reason why I was paying more money for AOL’s services than some other Internet provider, …I didn’t really find one. I DID stumbled across a weekly poll for kids on AOL, pitting two ‘like’ things together, (i.e., TV shows, movie characters, ect…). The questions go something like this:
“Which show has the cooler son?”
Then the choices were:
A) “Bart from ‘The Simpsons’”
B) “Bobby from ‘King of the Hill’”
I NEVER liked Bart, he’s gotten better over the years, but I always thought he was the LAMEST stereotype ever. I was 10 years old when the show first started on FOX. Many of the episodes then were centered on Bart, and I just couldn’t relate to the character, nor could I relate him to any ‘one’ 10 year old boy I had ever met. Yet kids my age (at that time) loved him. I knew at least 10 Bobby’s at the age of 13, however, (assuming that’s around the age of Bobby Hill). No doubt I THINK Bobby is “cooler”.
HOWEVER! I can understand the kids voting for Bart. In fact, I have no problem with them voting Bart “coolest” at all! It doesn’t matter if I think Bart should have been killed off YEARS ago in a gruesome and torturous way! What matters to me is that the kids are able to decide whether THEY like Bart or not, and not simply vote for him because all of the other kids like him.
Each poll would have roughly 3 questions. So the kids were also asked “Does ‘King of the Hill’ or ‘The Simpsons’ have the funnier dad”, and "Which show, (Simpsons or King of the Hill), is your overall favorite? Throughout all the polls, these kids don’t fail ONCE to vote for the things I would.
“Which system has the best action games?”
28% Voted GameCube
71% Voted PlayStation 2
…HORSESHIT!
But you know what? That’s fine! I’m slowly coming to understand that these kids have a reputation to maintain with this… um, anonymous poll. Of course they’re either going to vote for what they are TOLD is cool, or for the system they own!! I own just a GameCube… When it was asked which system had the better sports games in the same poll, 72% voted PS2, and 27% voted GameCube. I voted for PS2, mainly because, (even though GameCube sports tittles are better quality), PS2 has more verity in sports games, plus online options. Surely you would normally see quite a larger margin between PS2’s sports games approval than you would in PS2’s action games approval. But those same SNOT NOSED 71/72% voted for PS2 in each of those categories!! The same PUKE BREATH 27/28% voted GameCube in each of those categories!!
AND GET THIS!!!
“Which System is your overall favorite?”
70% PS2
29% GameCube
Those bugger-eating BRATS! It’s relatively the same numbers across the board!! OH YEAH BABY!! I know you SDers are with me. I can SMELL your disgust!
Like I said, it’s all becoming clear to me now! What the hell was I thinking? Why would I assume that kids, (and often adults), would be able to reason!?
YEAH!!! F*ck!ng public schools!!
…Now here’s where it get UGLY!
“Who rules overall?”
Queen Amidala… 67%
Princess Leia… 32%
“OVERALL, WHICH MAKES THE BETTER SIDEKICK?”
Jar Jar… 56%
Chewbacca… 43%
“Which has the force stronger within them?”
Anakin… 64%
Luke… 35%
“OVERALL, WHO IS THE BETTER JEDI MASTER?”
ANAKIN… 64%
LUKE… 35%
I would just like to say in closing. I’ve never seen the first 3 Star Wars made until after I saw Phantom Menace. EVEN BEFORE I SAW ANY OF THE STAR WARS MOVIES… EVEN WHEN I WAS A wee KID… I KNEW LUKE WOULD, basically, HAVE TO BE THE BETTER JEDI MASTER! I didn’t even have to watch the damn movies to figure that CRAP’olla OUT! MOST KIDS ARE MORONS, who have NO ability to reason…
When I was in third grade, witches and wizards, my teacher put each kid in her class get into groups of four. In these groups, we had to agree on the groups overall favorite song, movie, and TV show.
My choice for TV show was: “Transformers”
The rest of the three: “Saturday Night Live”
Like these little ass-faces stayed up to watch SNL, let alone understand the humor! I guess things haven’t changed much since then! Other than the fact that all my fellable classmates learned to read and write more well than I, while I remain at a 3rd grade level! As you can all tell, I’m sure!
It’s times like these where I don’t mind being sterol.
