No Lo Contendre - MMP

Sorry for doube post but now this is hysterical–the ads are NOW for kitty litter etc.

It must take a while for the ad pages to “refresh”.

Bizarre.

What shall I change it to? Garden hoses are useful. I don’t know many people who have no use for a garden hose. I use my garden hose to water my plants and to wash my car. What are some other uses for a garden hose?

I’m sure you deviants can come up with a few…

Alton Brown used chopped up garden hoses to illustrate meat fibers. Old dried up garden hoses make ood outdoor planters (made of old dried up garden hoses. Garden hoses come in a variety of styles, from the kind of garden hose that is a standard static tube to the kind of garden hose the flattens like a ribbon when the garden hose water pressure is off. Garden hose. And women wear garden hose under their garden dresses at garden parties. And if the garden dress is very short, then they’re garden ho’s. Then off course if you have more than one particular tool for use in your flower beds, they’re garden hoes.

You know, a hothouse is where a [del]pimp[/del] gardener keeps all of his hoes and rakes.

One day, perhaps very soon, when I actually start cooking for myself, Alton Brown will be my own personal god, handing down Kitchen Commandments from on high. And yea, spake the Food Lord, thou shalt mix well and refrigerate for 2 hours before serving. And there was much rejoicing. [sub]yaayyy[/sub]

WHY do the ads keep saying, Older Women, Pictures of?
How weird is that?

Overslept a tad, hafta run or late for work…remember how my boss was not going to let me go on vaca after I was sick in March? I got my paycheck for my vaca time–it is <drumroll> $313. Yes, you read that right.

I feel like I am back at the pizza place–I don’t think I’ll take vaca w/o PTO again, any time soon…

Good morning! Last day of class for this session. I’ll be picking up the pieces I glazed last week and glazing the last of the stuff that’s been fired. I’ll get that stuff at the beginning of the next session, which starts in 2 weeks.

FCD literally brought his work home - a big control panel, a touch screen, and a bunch of environmental control stuff. We took it all to the basement last night, and he’ll be futzing with it all day today.

On my way back from class, I’m going to pick up a watch (which I forgot yesterday) and a dehumidifier, as the one in our basement has died. (Pause for a moment of reverent silence for my dehumidifier. Thank you.) Then, when I get home, I fully intend to finish the little guest room, right down to hanging a buttload of pictures on the walls. Then I’ll take some pics and post them. I promise. Sorta.

I did see anything about older women, but cat litter is up there now. Garden hoses are way too boring, methinks. Personally, I think we should be going for linguini or something similar. Meanwhile, I’m going to head to Annapolis, with a stop enroute at Wawa for my morning caffeine. And maybe a muffin.

Ya know, Rue usta say “Have a muffin!” Now, whenever I have a muffin, I think of Rue. Also when something disgusting comes out of my dog or cat, but mostly when I have a muffin. In fact, I bought some muffin pans yesterday and some time this weekend, I intend to make raisin bran muffins. Yum.

But for now, I’m outta here. Carry on!

Ahhhh, Saturday morning. And I’m not doing much, yet.

Never even made it in here yesterday, cuz I was too tired - did everyone else have a long week too?

Kitty litter, dumpsters, garden hoses…hee. I never look at ads. (My browser is set up so that I don’t see them.)

Listening to Morning Edition and thinking about Mika’s poetry thread. They’re interviewing Edward Hirsch about this book. Interesting interview. Guess I should go back and find the thread and add to it.

I don’t think scout usually stops in on weekends, but I really liked the pics. You and BSMF really do look like you belong together.

So, Puggy, dear, what does KSC stand for? Was Bobbio right?

Loved the rat letter, Rue. Clearly you have very clever patients.

Wow…taxi. That money thing is terrible. Glad you have the paperwork. Should clear things up, I would think. My college experiences are both with large universities, and both of them had a hard time keeping student money straight. I know lots of people who were forever having to get their financial aid straightened out.

Bumba, ya know a duel kinda loses its ooomph when the dialogue includes sentences such as: “Well, gotta go take the chicken out of the oven now. Ta!”

So, did Kytheria confirm that she’s doing the next MMP?

Kitchen remodel sounds very nice, rigs. I really want to remodel mine, but there are several projects ahead of that. Might re-paint, though.

Already decided that all paper stuff will be cleaned up today as it’s getting on my nerves. It’s supposed to be pretty chilly out today, so I’m not as magnetically drawn to the garden as I would be otherwise.

Off to surf a bit more and then…on with the day!

Happy Saturday! Today is Accepted Students Day at RPI, so’s I have to go edjimicate some youngins and their parental units about physics at RPI. Which involves me getting free food.

… DO NOT QUESTION ME.
Anyway, I also have a ton of work to do today, mostly summaries of philosopy readings. And then we’re going to watch Pirates of the Caribbean later, because my friend somehow still hasn’t seen it, and he wants to before the sequel comes out. Yesterday we saw The Producers at the campus cinema, which I hadn’t seen, and may I just say it was the most mindblowingly hilarious movies I’ve ever set eyes on.

“Someone else’s life is flashing before my eyes! What the hell is that about?”

Good morning one and all! I’m sitting here sipping my coffee and cruising the Dope. Let’s see today I have accomplished getting up, making coffee, letting the dog out to do his business, feeding and watering said dog, and that’s about it. Oh, I responsed to an e-mail from a friend too.

It’s not raining here, yet. The sky is gray and dreary.

gt, since you didn’t let Mr. Taters know about the Tagro for Tuesday he figured you didn’t want him to make his crazy cross-country Tagro jaunt.
So, unfortunately, you’ll have to make do with your own back breaking labor. He feels bad, but he has important plans for today. You know, playing his PC games and heady stuff like that.

One day I’d like to sort of remodel my house. I’d like to put all hardwood flooring downstairs and change my counter tops. I’m not sure if I’d want granite or silestone yet. Unfortunately, all that is a long way off because it costs lotso moolah and I don’t have it.

My friend just returned from Vegas and informed me she “didn’t win shit”, which is a good thing. I mean, who wants to smell up her purse with shit? Actually, I was hoping she’d tell me she’d won a big chunk with some of the money I sent her down with. I think I gave her a WHOLE two or three dollars in quarters. She probably couldn’t even find a quarter machine down there.

Off to cruise the Dope and other assorted websites.

Hello! Dinner last night was lovely, and today I must clean the oven, organize the fridge, and do some cooking. Probably curried potato and cauliflower, to take for dinner for the next few days. Then I trot off to work and help train the new guy. Ah, the glamour!

I don’t really have anything to say other than that scout and her boy are cute.

Well, I’ve made a small dent in the paper. Started in the LR, where I wanted to make sure all the newspapers went to recycling and all the coupons were clipped. Had, of course, to read parts of the paper I hadn’t gotten to. Oooh…and those pretty library books I got out the other day (one is about kitchens, the other has creative wall finishes - a bit beyond the usual faux stuff - in this one they glue stuff on the walls (glass pebbles, wallpaper cutouts, ribbon, fringe, etc.) They look pretty, but all I can think of is “dust collectors.”

Oh, and, my laptop, which is on so that I can scribble notes so that I don’t forget what else I wanted to do this weekend. Well isn’t this a good time to listen to a couple of podcasts that I subscribe to, but haven’t listened to lately. And also to purge a couple that I figure I can go out and find if I get the urge to listen to…

Oh, and while I’m there, why don’t I go see if anything interesting has come up on the Dope. Or Newsvine or Digg or Metafilter.

So, I’m feeling quite informed. And also feel like going to look for a cabinet to replace one in the kitchen. And I haven’t really made all that much progress.

It’s Saturday! Maybe I’ll just break down and go to the library.

Oh, and Taters, I am deeply deeply disappointed in Mr. Taters’ lack of dedication to my garden. Deeply, I tells ya.

GT

Now Mr. Taters is saying he drove out there, but you weren’t home, so he and his Tagro drove back. He’s disappointed you weren’t there. He was soooooo looking forward to spreading sh… er, treated waste on your grass.

Speaking of grass, it’s raining here again and the lawn is looking even more green and lush. There’s still too much of the Tagro on top of the lawn to mow, but in another week we should be able to mow. This rain will most definitely help the Tagro sink down and help the grass grow even more.

I am homemaker goddess girl! I have made the curry, tidyied and cleaned the fridge and all the stuff under the kitchen sink, and partly organized the linen closet. Also I made three dish towels and I’m thinking about making new laundry bags. In a few minutes, I think I will have lunch.

And it’s above zero outside right now. This is ridiculous weather for April.

It’s raining good out there, and quite chilly. I picked up 7 of my works today, and glazed 10 more. After I got home, FCD and I ran to Lowe’s for a new dehumidifier, because I didn’t feel like stopping at WalMart on the way home, so I still don’t have a working watch. But while we were out, I remembered to stop and get cupcake papers, so I’m going to mix up a batch of raisin bran muffins this very afternoon. Yum.

But with the rain and the chill, what I really want to do is curl up under the covers and nap. However, I’ve got stuff to do, including making muffins, so I’ll pass on the nap. For now.

Tuna noodle casserole for dinner.

And that’s pretty much all I’ve got. To the kitchen with me!

Muffins sound good. Guess I could bake some. But first I really need to clean the kitchen, including cleaning out the fridge. I think I still have some leeks in there. I’m thinking I might actually make a quiche with leeks, mushrooms and artichoke hearts. And some bacon maybe.

I’ve been to the library where someone had already snapped up the copy of the poetry book I talked about earlier (I was impressed that they already had it…). So I’ve reserved it.

Came back with a Sue Henry mystery instead.

Need to go to Target. Maybe I’ll do that before I clean the kitchen.

It’s sunny out, but cold (mid-thirties, probably). Everything’s starting to bloom, which is nice. There are lots of magnolias and Bradford pears. My crabapples should be blooming in the next week or so (they seem to be running a bit late).

GT

Aggggh! More chores, you’re so productive FCM. I feel incredible guilt whenever I read your daily to-dos and got-dones.

I’m thinking I need to get upstairs clean the laundry room, but good. It’s been awhile and it’s where the cats litter box is located. Don’t get me wrong, his litter is changed regularly, but you know how those bits of kitty litter get everywhere. So, I’m thinking, pull everything out of the laundry room, sweep, vacuum and wash floor. Sort the laundry into the appropriate hampers and put everything back. It’s been calling out for me to do this for a couple of weeks.

I dunno, though. It’s gray, drearly (I know a typo, but I’m leaving it; I keep typing that instead of “dreary”, so I’m making up a new word), and rainy. It is perfect weather for reading, napping and kicking back.

My head hurts. I sure hope I’m not coming down with what BOTH my kids came down with this week. I don’t have time to be sick; there’s too much to do at work and here. I took some Motrin, hopefully it’ll kick in soon.

Well, off to cruise the net a little more.

yucky icky nasty wet windy I-Hate-Rainy-Days weather today. Aside from making me ache all over, it zaps my strength and desire to do anything. So I woke up, did some PR work for the chorus, and crawled nack into bed around noon. I just woke up a half hour ago and have been debating whether or not to blow off this dinner thing tonight. A friend may be going thru a (second) divorce and he just wants to hang and have a little fun. There’ll be others there if I bail, but I realized it’s good for me to get out of the house. Maybe I’ll bring my snazzy new camera (I should take a pic of it with my old one, just to show it to you all). So I have to go get dressed, and pick up my friend because my homies and I have turned into old fogeys - we’re meeting for dinner at 5:30 because the place we’re going tends to get very crowded after 6:30 and we don’t want to be surrounded by [crotchety old woman voice] all those noisy young whippersnappers and their noisier children [/cowv]. Yeesh! But we have fun anyway - so I’ll catch ya later (I should be home by 9:pm or so

“9:pm” really said “9 : p m” :smack:

A duel? Is that what that was? I thought I was just helping Welby out with his grammar. Hmmmmm…

I liked your pics Scout, you look like you have a great time together. That’s good.

A Cautionary Tale: (If you’s squeamish, skip ahead.) Do you know what happens when you take 880 MG (4 x the reccommended max dose) of naproxin sodium at 5pm and follow that with another 880 mg at 5am? I don’t either, but I know what happens when * I * do it, and it ain’t pretty. Smells pretty awful too. When I staggered back to bed at 6am I musta woke Wifey, 'cause this morning she made me stay home with a cold pack on my gouty ankle. Said she could work from the shop just as well as the real estate office. I let her push me around. So I’m home alone today. In a few minutes I’m gonna go get the ice pack back outta the freezer and retire to the couch again, but I think I’ll get the rest of the shirts out of the dryer first.

Y’ll have a nice weekend.

Awww, Bumba, sweetie - feel better!

rose - go and have fun! I have spoken.

I have baked a dozen muffins, and the rest of the batter is in the fridge - according to the recipe, it’ll be good there for up to 6 weeks. Yeah, like it’ll last that long… I’ve got a tuna-noodle casserole in the oven. I emptied the dishwasher, then reloaded it with dirties. We’ll be eating in about 15 minutes.

It’s still raining, which is good, because we’re way behind in our rain totals for the year. But it also kinda sucks, because it’s gonna drop into the 30s tonight - who stole spring??

Sorry about the over-naproxyning, Bumba. Feel better! (And yes, it was clearly a duel. I was just waiting for someone to volunteer to be your second.)

rosie, I kind of liked 9:pm.

Me…I went to Target for a moment and then to World Market to alleviate the chocolate shortage in my home.

And then I decided that I wasn’t that hungry and sliced up a mango and dribbled some sour cream on it. Yum. I’ve been very fresh-fruit oriented today. Had a grapefruit with lunch and now the mango.

I’m thinking I might have hot chocolate for dessert. (I’ve taken to melting a couple of squares of dark chocolate with milk and then whisking…this was the true reason for the venture to World Market…)

Guess the quiche will be tomorrow. Need to work through more paper; junk mail is next. With a movie (haven’t decided what). Can I have a muffin FCM? They sound good. What kind of batter is it that will last so long in the fridge?
