Anyone know the difference between freighter classes aside from slot counts? I did some battle grinding to get an A class frighter with 34 cargo slots. Is there an advantage to looking for an S class one? I have like half a billion in cash now and make around 150M a day. Need to find something to spend it on!
The main difference is hyperdrive jump Distance.S is bigger(unless RNG being bitchy) it can be significant if you are using your freighter for you primary system opening/exploring ship, if you get three S class hyperdrive upgrades(or even better 6 if you put 3 in both tech and and cargo areas) the max difference is hundreds of light years. If you don’t jump with the freighter ever, it is pointless, right now at least.
My question, Does anybody know an easy way to get the tiny animals? The .2 meter ones? When there are a bunch of little red dots on the screen, that wont lock on.Then they flitter away every time I try to get closer, it takes me 15 minutes to get a lock to get scanner credit. And I have no idea what is different the time it locks then the 120 it didn’t.
Ahh–thanks! Yeah, I don’t use the freighter for exploration. I just park it in my main base system and use it to launch missions. I can always zap the freighter to my current position if need be.
I don’t usually have a problem with scanning, though I find it usually works best if I can sorta isolate just one critter. Maybe find a different angle where there’s just one in the reticle at a time.
Zoom?
Anyway - the trick to getting the scans to start is keeping the crosshair on, or at least VERY near the critter. Once it starts, you just have to keep them in the much larger reticule.
The ones I find tricky are the larger sea critters that fade away or clip into the ground, and the birds that simply fly straight and fade out. Well, and all the times the sentinel quads are mis-ID’d as critters.
There is a zoom for scan??
You should spend a save slot on a a creative mode game, near god mode. No recharging, buy what you see, build what you want, you have most if not all blueprints, sentinels ignore you, most “plot” is lost but damn if you can’t get a big freight of ships easy and build as stupid a base as you want.
On PC, right-click while scanning.
Sweet, thanks, seems very useful, of course I will probably never find microfauna again.
Thanks as well
Oh yeah I hate that , they trigger from half the continent away, just to be nothing.
I’m on the scientist mission where he sends you to find a Korvax Convergence Cube. Well, I went to where he sent me and found the cube… and then accidentally gave it as a gift to some random Korvax. Now the mission pointer keeps telling me to talk to the scientist, but he just wants his damn cube and won’t tell me where to find another one. I’ve been jumping all over the place trying to find one, and having absolutely no luck.
I’m also pretty irritated that all of the base construction blueprints are gated behind finding buried technology. I wish we could buy construction blueprints the way we buy other blueprints. I’ve got a base that I have to hop up into because I still haven’t figured out that fancy “ramp” technology.
And boy I wish we had elevators. Climbing ladders is clunky in this game, and it’s annoying that they can only be placed in the center of the prefab rooms, right where you have to put other equipment.
They can sometimes be found in those red cylinders that require an Atlas Pass V1 to open. Or talk to every non-merchant NPC you see and barter with anyone you can, you might get a Cube in exchange.
Korvax Cubes are very common loot on frigate expeditions as well.
The community event for quicksilver currency is starting today.
The things you can buy are apparently decorative blueprints, an emote, and a new head.
Well I’ve gone through to the next galaxy. Time to put my lessons learned in base building to get a more perfect setup,
I did the first quest. It’s nothing special, but worth doing for a reason I shall spoiler:
You have to go through a portal to go to the particular planet where you need to gather resources. It was very cool to pop out and see dozens of messages from other players who had already visited, nearly all of them positive and/or silly. I don’t know if this sort of thing is common closer to the center, but for me it was the first time that I’ve come across anything like it.
It looks like the update increased the frigate expedition time significantly, one of mine is going to take 21 hours to complete, a couple others are 9 hours.
You can also no longer send inventory to storage containers at a base or freighter from anywhere, which is a significant quality of life reduction for me, at least. (I don’t know if they actually changed the starship teleporter upgrade to actually work or not; that would help a little).
I’ve also hit a bug a couple of times where talking to someone doesn’t go to the conversation, but instead brings the option screens (Discoveries/log/milestone, etc.). Since there’s then no way to back out of that screen, you have to kill the game and relaunch.
Finally, I’m STILL not seeing crashed ships (it broke on the previous update). Even ignoring the “iteration” distress calls, when I get to a crashed ship site, I see the beacon, a “smear” on the ground, but no ship. The beacon “acts” like the ship is there, but it’s not actually present. I’ve been to a couple dozen sites now, and none of them have the actual ship, which is distinctly annoying – finding a nice wreck and fixing it up is my preferred method of ship upgrading.
It’s always worked - it’s just next-to-worthless. It increases the “teleport inventory to/from ship” option from 50 yards to 100. (I guess slightly useful when building a base.)
nvm
This has happened to me a bunch too. I even dug down to bedrock at one just to check to see if the crashed ships had fallen through the terrain. No dice.
Worse, it’s now starting to happen to my exocraft pads on occasion. The icon is there, and the divot in the terrain where I put it, but no pad. They reappear if I leave and come back to the base though.
Rewards are upped nicely too though, just got 1.7 mil from a returning mission.
