{{{Midget}}} You have made me smile.
I made a grocery run and hit a great deal on used ground beef - the 85% lean was marked down to $2.57/lb - I got 4 packages, each a bit over a pound. They’re all vacuum-packaged and crammed in the freezer. ChaChing!!
No, first one was ≈ 05:00, second was a samm’ich from The Wa(wa) ≈ 7:30 because my partner du heure wanted to go & the third was diner after flight because someone else wanted to go; she treated, too.
Rosie, you’re wrong, family doesn’t think you’re an idiot; family knows you’re an idiot. :o
Midget, you’re safe as there’s no blood relation with other Mumpers.
Originally, I was supposed to be at the shore right now, enjoying some saltwater in the air, but that was cxl’d. Since I was available & alone I agreed to help someone on a long drive today, but that was kiboshed. Plan C was a flight this evening, but that fell apart because of…sea breezes.
At some point you just give up & decide the universe doesn’t want you to go out, so instead I got a Pick-6 & am going to remain at home tonight with A Bare Ass Blonde w/ Double D & a Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’. ![]()
I’m sure Doggio would approve!
Howdy Y’all! We went back to the cee-mint pond. As I predicted no storm or rain. It went around us. So we were back out for a couple hours, then came inside and cleanded up. Chef salads made for dindin along with some cheesey bread. That was yum. Now it’s just chill time. I will do ush duty again tomorrow. I was asked if I’d sub by one of the scheduled ushes bein’ as his son, DIL, and grandson are in town this weekend and he’d like to sit with ‘em as a family durin’ church. Couldn’t say no to that now could I? Besides he’s a good friend who has subbed last minute for me in the past.
Spidey I’d stay home with those three myself.
Blurf. I took the sprog in to get his school clothes and supplies and stuff. Total damage: $300. Half of that was for uniform stuff that we have to get at the uniform shop; the rest was at Walmart. It’s not going to get any better if we keep the sprog in Catholic school for high school.
any reason you or he doesn’t want public school?
Around here, the high-dollar neighborhood schools are okay, if your kid is content with agriculture and metal shop for elective classes. My kids wanted theater and robotics. Our schools are ranked lower than the surrounding schools in our county, on average. But the smart kids perform better at high school and college level. We couldn’t afford private school, so we chose to live in a place where good academic achievement was possible, if the kids chose to achieve.
Neither of us want public school. He had a lot of behavioral and social problems while he was in public school; he had attracted some unwanted attention from a couple of kids who decided to get older brothers and kids who didn’t even go to that school involved. This culminated in an ugly fight where a girl beat the sprog down to the ground so violently that the crossing guard had to leave her post to pull the girl off of him. She got three days of out-of-school suspension and two days of in-school and the sprog got three days of in-school suspension. If I knew then what I know now, I would have gotten the police involved, and my biggest regret is that I didn’t. The sprog is still very, very bitter about that and he still blames me for not doing anything. So even if he were to go back to public school, he’d go to a school in a neighboring district, not the local high school.
Behaviorally, he learned to lie low, partly because of the aforementioned social problems, but also because he tends to zone out. His fifth-grade class had 29 or 30 kids. He zoned out to the point where he failed most of his academic subjects, but the teacher promoted him to sixth anyway.
And, truthfully, the local district is, at best, fair-to-middlin’ academically and doesn’t really offer any enrichment opportunities that he’s interested in. I’ve also looked at what passes for “leadership” and most of those tend to be elected popularity contests.
So Airman and I decided that he didn’t need to be in that environment and sent him to Catholic school. There are 16 kids in his grade (not class, grade), his teachers know him and don’t let him zone out, and there are a lot of clubs and leadership opportunities. We also held him back at the principal’s suggestion to give him a chance to mature a little and to give him distance from public school. It’s made a HUGE difference. He enjoys school, he’s made friends, and doesn’t have to be afraid to walk the hallways. He’s also going to be a lot more competitive for college.
So as much as I whine about spending the money for uniforms and such, it’s worth it to us.
good reasons, indeed.
One of among the very, very, very many reasons why I’m glad I never had any kids is schools. I just could not imagine havin’ a child in any of the public schools in any of the places I have lived. Rockin’ good on y’all for makin’ sure the Sprog is gettin’ a good education in a good environment for him!
I kinda sorta want to go to bed but I kinda sorta don’t want to go to bed. OYKW is snoozin’ away. I am tired but not tahrd the way I want to be when I go to bed.
I’ll bet none of the above paragraph makes the least bit of sense.
Poor Baby!
I’ve bitten my tongue and mouth, but not that badly. ![]()
Got my hairs cut, went out to lunch, stopped at the saddlery and now have a saddle on trial for a week, swung by the barn for a prelim saddle fitting, came home and fed the cat. Now watching the last of the track and field events in the Olympics and feel sad. I hate when special events are over.
My closing shift called in, so I ended up doing a double. It’s hell when you best, most reliable employee is a 17 year old kid. Lather, rinse, repeat tomorrow.
{{{{{{Midget}}}}}} and hope the tongue feels better.
Yes I do. Tonight I’m dipping in to the Oktoberfest
Rockin’, public school can suck, I had experience similar to the Sprog’s. ![]()
I suppose I should be heading for bed but I’m not tired yet.
I’ve been blurfy all day, didn’t get much done.
I finished off the last of the deconstructed galumpkis and I want more.
I’ll have to remember to put cabbage on the grocery list. I’m thinking about dicing up a carrot to add to it.
The dog is finally back to normal. Sah-son crashed hours ago after staying up all night with the dog. For whatever reason, the dog wants Sah-son to let him out when he is having his spells, he won’t go out for me.
I had a major problem with Sah-son’s middle school because of the bullying. I made a few trips to the school to talk with them, only to get the run around. They said they couldn’t do anything about it unless he’d tell them who was bullying him. I said bull crap, because they know who the bullies are. They just don’t want to deal with it, all the anti-bullying crap is talk.
I know it is a lot of the reason why he is so shy.
{{{Midget}}} from what I understand, tongues heal pretty quickly.
{{{Sunny}}} there are two kinds of people in this world, those who get headaches and those who give them.
I never get headaches, so is that a good thing or a bad thing?
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work in a bit.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out, mostly cloudy and muggy with a predicted high of 95 with a heat index of 105 and possibly rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. We shall see. The plan of the day is deheathenization with ush duty. N.O.L. will be provided by Long John Silver’s because of coupons and a gnawin’ and a cravin’ on the part of OYKW. After that, I foresee time inside as I do not imagine bein’ up for cee-mint pond time. Thus sloth shall ensue.
OK, that’s all I got for now. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence at some point.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
blurf
Dammit - my post got et!
Not gonna do it again. So there.
Happy Sunday anyway.
All brekkied, shevelled, and purtified. OYKW has arisen, brekkied and is about to purtify. Then we go deheathenate. All is good.
Happy Sunday!
It’s raining.
I don’t know what I’m doing today.
I’ll decide after breakfast.
