I’m in too. I live in S.F. so I can make some suggestions for get togethers. Puerto Allegre always works well. They have really cheap margarittas. mmmmmmmmmmm.
Just be cool about the meeting place. I live in San Jose, and I don’t particularly like the city, so I’m not very SF-literate.
Also, It’d be Public Trans.(probably take the train up).
I might be able to make Sunday. I work EVERY Saturday at present. I could possibly get there sometime Sunday, though. It’s about 5 hours drive from here. Otherwise, I’ll catch you all next time.
Can’t miss BayCon, which is the last weekend of May. but I could make the next Sunday, possibly the Sat.
Well I should be able to make it but it depends on the time. I work 4pm-12am right so if we meet early in the day then I could go. If we meet for dinner or something then I should be able to switch shifts and work 8am-4pm and meet up with you guys around 5pm. I won’t be able to go on Sun. though 
Doob: Where abouts do you live? I could give you a ride. I live in the Fremont/Newark area, so I can swing by and pick ya up if you still need a ride.
I’m not very SF literate either, but I believe the place OldScratch mentioned is in the Mission, with a couple of BART stops nearby. Correct me if I’m wrong OS.
Strider, so far you are the only one where time makes a difference, so let us know what would be better for you. Either way is fine by me. Breakfast margaritas?

Hey everyone, i’m bumping this back up to the top because the planned date for the Nor Cal Doper bash is over two weeks away! What we need to do is finalize plans. I know that on sunday dem said we can go to the Mountain Play so that’s probably set (the web site Dem listed has info). Some things we need to think about are:

The Restaurant. Suggested was Puerto Alegre in the Mission district. Good because minors can come ;). Are we agreed on this?

Time 4:00. However, i’m sure some of you are making this a day trip in the city. With the other two bashes, we’ve stayed for several hours on end (the Monterey bash lasted from 12:00 to about 8 or 9)

Places to meet if people are making this a day trip. My ride (says she is picking me up in the morning. Thanks PCW!). I think a day trip would be nice. It would be cool to meet people before, and kind of wander in as a group (those of you coming alone might like this. instead of having to ask everyone in the restaurant where the straighdopers are, you can meet people and not feel so alone ;)). Are there any places you all would like to go to? I hear golden gate park is nice (Saw a show on the Japanese Tea Garden, wonderful place). There’s the Exploratorium, the Zoo, perhaps China Town (for the tourists experience) and pier 39/ fishermans wharf? So, if you have any ideas, please list them. It would really be nice if we could have a group thing before dinner, and make this day really special (not that it already wouldnt ;)).
Anyway, that’s about all i can think of. Let’s get this thing together so no one is left wondering about it.

I’m going to try to come, too. I’ll take the CalTrain up, because I’m always too stuffed and pixilated after dining in the City to drive. What’s the BART/Muni connection to take from teh CalTrain station? Is the restaurant in an area safe for a single woman to walk through?
pugluvr, if you are uncomfortable walking around the city by yourself, I’d be willing to meet you at the BART station or whatever and “escort” you to the restaurant. E-mail me if you’re interested.

On Saturday at noon they’ll be having free lawn bowling lessons at the Lawn Bowling Club in Golden Gate Park!
The zoo would be good. It isn’t the best zoo in the world but it would allow for boisterous socializing and plenty of room.

Just a reminder. We’re two weeks out and I just bought my ticket for the mountain play on Sunday the 4th. It takes ten days if you order it online, so if you are planning that, order now! I think you can buy at the gate as well, not sure. I’ll check into it today and repost here. All other plans are as stated previously. See ya soon!
Hmmm, I just went back to their website and it didn’t say anything about buying tickets at the gate. I tried calling but got the machine. Here is the ticket page. It also says you can get tickets at the following locations:

Botanical gardens, close to several other nice areas, such as asain art museum, inner sunset, beach, stow lake, academey of sciences, etc.
Justin herman plaza- allows us to go anywhere in the city pretty easily.
