Non-Sleeper cell -- for those who want to ramble at night, not bright and early

I have no idea why, since I’d been down less than 5 hours, but I’m up now. No outside noise issue, no body parts acting worse than usual, DH and the pets were keeping quiet, etc.

Made me smile just a little. Hard to imagine what could surprise you enough after 40 years to stop speaking. That’s a tale that would be interesting to hear. Hope it all sorts out and you get to in person visit with both. After all, they don’t need to talk to each other, just you. I had a porch visit yesterday (my first) with a friend and it was lovely. She stopped at a local coffee shop and brought me a peanut butter power frappe-that was an unexpected treat, ah, the good old days-spontaneously bopping through the drive through. She brought her two dogs so it was extra nice. Dogs are happy to see people no matter what. Unconditional acceptance and the whole Covid thing doesn’t bother them in the slightest. Porch visiting instead of having to behave themselves in the living room? Fine by them.

That worked for me last night, my new book was good but not too good. Not so engaging yet that I fought getting sleepy. I get myself up early enough that I can say good morning to y’all before I head off to worship at the feet of granddaughter Harriet. She’s just back from Colorado camping so she will have lots of stories for me. The interesting part will be if the stories are the same when her folks tell them

I’m so sorry. Whatever the sick is keep yourself hydrated. Cuddle with furry family members to keep your morale up (I’m not referring to Mr. Beck in case he’s furry, I have no way to know-but by all means cuddle with him too if its not contagious).

The ways of the gods of sleep are beyond our ken. Sometimes I think its the imminent change of seasons that throws sleep cycles off or a barometric pressure shift in the weather. Or this is what I tell myself so I don’t go nuts trying to figure it out. The not going nuts works every now and then.

Feel better Beck.

Boo

2330 local, shirt sleeve Farenheit outside, smoke from the fires is make your eyes sting bad tonight.
I see BBBoo is typing something at the same time I am.
Spent an enjoyable evening with my SO. Watched a bit of a documentary about Giant Armadillos (i know, i know, slow down with the fast lane stuff and “this is a family oriented place, keep that stuff private” and the like) We talked about the future some, but nothing new really was said.

Whelp, that’s all I got from Castle Vader right now, over to you, Boo😉

Get well soon Beck

@Beck
I sure hope you feel bedda by now. It’s my early night since I spent the day wrangling my 3yo grand girl and I can keep up a brave front until I’m out their door and heading down the driveway. 11 minutes later in front of my house and trying to pry my butt out of my car and into the house? Usually takes me a couple minutes to even try to walk up 4 steps into the house. I can set a new land speed record dropping my purse by the door and getting into my nightgown. On my good nights I even check first to see if the blinds are down.

Keep hydrating yourself. When you feel better I’ll try to amuse you with the story of the bear that got into the grandgirl’s car in Colorado. Still trying to figure out what was appealing about paying a thousand dollars to stay in a cabin that you couldn’t leave because there was 14 inches of snow everywhere and BEARS were trying to eat your young. Complete waste of college tuition. Wish I had figured that out 15 years ago-then I would still have enough money to go on vacation. Instead I got to stay home and babysit their house to let in the refrigerator repairman. And since the fridge was broken there was no ice cream. To be fair, I knew that going in. I even had to bring my own lunch because the refrigerator was…broken. At least I got ice cream on the way home.

Nighter, nighter. Hope its a good long sleep and no bears.

Boo

Good night and sleep tight. Look up ‘sleep tight’ on Wikipedia, its charming and I wish all of it for you and yours.

I’ll be more entertaining tomorrow night, which is actually tonight’s tonight. Off to see if I can get Mel to crawl into bed with me. There’s always a first time…

It’s 0010 Monday here, and I’m kicking back, binge-watching old “Lou Grant” episodes on DVD. I’ve got a drink, and I’m warming up a snack.

Boo, did you see tonight’s LA Rams v. Dallas Cowboys game? As you know, neither are my team, but it was nice to see LA win their first game in their new stadium.

Saw bits of it. My SIL was watching the games on Red Zone and it hops around all over showing the touchdowns and good parts. So I saw bits of every game and not enough of any one game. It’s his TV and his remote so I went with it. His remote, his rules. Law of the jungle.

Our Chiefs weren’t playing so it was a good way to draw a bead on the teams they might play soon. Seemed like there was a lot of injuries but that’s to be expected first games. I hate seeing it though. Sure was good to see some :football::football:after the summer of suspense we fans had. Thought of you the whole time I was watching, would have had a beer :beers::beer::beers: for you but I had to drive home.

Boo

My wife calls RedZone “ADHD TV.” The Packers weren’t on local TV here yesterday, as the Bears were on the same network at the same time, so I had the Bears game on as background while I spent the afternoon working. At least the Packers appeared to have played well.

Halfway through my Monday workday already; I need to spend my afternoon reviewing and editing a presentation. Fun times!

They did play well. Got to see quite a bit of them since there were many good plays. Seeing end of the Packer game was the best part of the ‘ADHD TV’ madness. Such a great term for it. Just about gave me whiplash wondering what game we were watching this second.

Boo

Sorry about the Niners. Watched the last few minutes of it, mostly holding my breath. Turns out holding your breath doesn’t work unless you suit up.

Boo

Meh, stuff happens. I missed the Niners game, but I caught the highlights. At least it was a close game, and there’s a lot of season left.

what the? I gotta log in twice to post? switch to a computer just one time…
anyway, I know it’s kinda early in the day, but has anyone heard from Dropzone lately?
I spoke with Beck, privately and very briefly earlier today, but haven’t heard/seen/read a peep from DZ in a ccouple weeks, kinda worries me a bit.

He started a thread about reverse mortgages last week; his profile says he last posted on the 7th (so, a week ago), but if you hover over his icon on that thread, it looks like he was on the board 3 days ago.

yeah that thread is a significant feeder of my concern about him.
I tried to send him a pm earlier but this dagnabbed platform wouldn’t let me do it. Not sure what I did that disagreed with discourse, but it kept burping something about editing in another window and reloading this one or some such thing.

@dropzone, could ya pop in and let us know you’re doing as well as can be expected, physically at least?

that at thingy sends a message to people when you do that right?

Ain’t Taco Bell a kick in the pants?

It’ll let them know that they are tagged in a post (with the little blue bubble by your icon), but I’m not sure it’ll send a message unless the tagged user sets it up that way.

Hmph. I’m so frustrated, I could spit. Or scream. Which is better? Probably spitting, so I don’t wake the neighbors. I finally got to the end of a huge project only to find I messed up and have to start all over again. My own stupid fault.

I’m worried about Beck.

The skies are still smoky. We need rain. The NWS keeps lowering the odds we’re going to get rain. It was an 80% chance a couple of days ago. Now it’s a 40% chance.

Did I mention I’m worried about Beck.

Me too.

Boo

I’m also worried about Beck.

Sent a PM to @Beckdawrek threatening to come down there and use my night nurse voice on her if she didn’t let us know she was ok.

Boo

Of course I don’t know where ‘there’ is…
