Well, the state of Arkansas, for starters. After that, I don’t know.
Boo, you can use your night nurse voice. I’ll join in with my wrestling voice. Between the two of us, I’m sure that we will have her logging in, if we will only shut up.

Hey, guys.
I’m drugged up. So excuse any ramblin’
Here’s the scoop:
Felt bad Friday.
By Saturday I was running a temp and feeling badder(is that a word?)
I got taken, under duress, to urgent care.
Doc there said I had a kidney infection. Scary, coz all I have is Lefty.
He gave me shots and meds.
Sunday morning I felt better. Just tired. Sunday evening I was really ill.
Today I went to the kidney doctor. More blood taken.
IV antibiotics given. Don’t let’s talk about incompetent needle stickers. My veins are crap.
Kidney Dr. wasn’t so sure my kidney is infected. It’s urinary tract and bladder. White count sky-high.
He sent me over to have a MRI and a new PICC line put in.
More shots, more meds.
I’ll find out in a day or two if I need my kidney biopsied.
And the results of my blood panel.
I’m truly a ‘Wrek’
And all you guys being concerned makes me feel better.
Thanks so much.
@Boo, I got your PM. My personal Nurse Rachetts are in full force around here.
Bayliss is on the case as well.
The Siamese are only worried about who will feed them.
@Dorkvader- I got an email from @dropzone, hmmm? I can’t remember when. He’s working on his house stuff. He hates the new board.
@Spoons, you make laugh. That was funny.
How does he know these things?
“Thou shalt not take a doctor’s word in vein.”
Seriously, Beck, trust your doctors. Good to know that you are in their care. Get well, and I’m–and I’m sure that we all are–looking forward to your return. As I once said, you didn’t just join our forum, you took it by storm. I’d like to see that enthusiasm for posting again, but only when you are ready.
Be well, friend Beck.
I was going to put in my Kroger order for pickup tomorrow (today) and try for sleep around 4. But, their website is having issues and wouldn’t take my order. There are a couple things I’d like to have but I can wait another day. I won’t starve and neither will the cats.
I had my yard visit today but my married friend who said she was coming without her husband also decided to not come. So my other friend and I talked about them.
It was very nice out but there were a few mosquitoes coming around about dusk. There is a West Nile Virus alert here. Great. We need to be outdoors for Covid and indoors for West Nile. Thanks 2020.
Hope you feel better Beck.
Slept a few hours, now I’m restless - thanks in part to an itchy mosquito bite I just had to scratch & make worse.
But I also slept an unholy amount last night, and I think my body is just … caught up on sleep? I’m drowsy, and I can doze, but I can’t seem to sink like I’d like to.
I’m also alternating between being content, even happy, with my new little life up here alone … and being desperately lonely, missing my late Other Shoe (lost to West Nile Virus) and even longing for my former I.T. Guy, whom I broke up with for heaven’s sake.
I’m gonna play a dumb game on my phone for a while, see if that turns off my brain. Wish me luck, kids.
She’s a Day Nurse. I’m a Night Nurse-we’re much more stern. Think Maleficent.
Thinking we need to add a motorcycle gang leader to our Enforcement Unit. Any volunteers out there? We won’t need to see a resume or anything.
There’s always Netflix or Hulu. My brain checks right out every time.
Boo
Sending lots of positive energy to you, @Beckdawrek.
Your “now do you get it” unsaid remark made me laugh.
When my kids were little, I spent a LOT of time apologizing to my mother.

Thanks for dropping in with the update, Beck. I, too, was beginning to worry. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Well, I’m relieved to hear from you, Beck. You know I’m a congenital worrier when it comes to people I care about. You’re not on prednisone or any immune-suppressants, are you? I only ask because one time when I was on 'em, a UTI morphed into a kidney infection. Since Lefty is in there partying alone, is there anything they can do to prevent another infection?
And you quit resisting when your family says time to go to medical help, missy!
Uploading sympathy, understanding, and lots of Pyridium to @Beckdawrek for the bladder infection. Don’t let those evil germs crawl upwards to the kidney, or you’ll have to get the other one out of the jar. The moonshine bath it has had certainly killed off all the bad guys in it!
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT to all Dopers:
If you are plagued by MOSQUITO BITES and the itching is driving you up the wall, run to your nearest drugstore and buy a tube of LANACANE. Make sure it is the regular Lanacane, and not Lanacane anti-chafing or Lanacort.
Do not screw around with any cortisone crap if you are in the initial stages of frenzied itching post-bite. Just don’t.
Lanacane contains benzocaine, a topical anesthetic. The relief is INSTANT. The cream base is messy and doesn’t really rub into your skin very well, but who the Hell cares?
We always have at least five tubes or more on hand at all times.

Y’all so sweet. I love you guys.
I’m gushy coz I drugged.
@nelliebly…no immuno drugs. I’ve taken boat loads of steroids in my life, but not at the moment.
@VOW, I do have dayglo orange pee.
In my many times of need I loved the sight of dayglo orange pee. Until surgery fixed things, I made sure to carry a dose with me at all times because I wouldn’t be able to stand waiting until I could get home.
Keep hydrating ! Pretty sure I’ve said that before, but keep doing it-your wee-wee system will thank you-as will your pain receptors.
Boo
I know, right?
‘AZO’ is my friend.
Sending lots of cheers and encouragement for Lefty, too!
Had a dream about Tara Lipinski, woke up and could not get back to sleep. Strange.
Remembering to hydrate Beck??
Be sure to finish all your antibiotics if you have them. With a full glass of water of course.
Check in with your MMP fans frequently so Nurse Ratchett reinforcements don’t show up on your doorstep.
Be extra good to yourself.
Keep your to-do list very short. Cooking and laundry will still be there. Let others wait on you for a change.
Laughter is very conductive to healing. That’s what Netflix and Hulu are for. I suggest Hulu’s ‘Brooklyn 99’and Netflix’s ‘Heel on Wheels’. HOnW is not a comedy but is outrageous and a snicker a minute. Other Beck fans, chime in here with suggestions.

Cranberry! Pomegranate! Blueberry! Those juices are supposed to magically turn pee into a liquid that is inhospitable to bacteria!
My doctor said, though, juice has too much sugar for Diabetics. She recommended I take cranberry pills. I get mine from Puritan.
The Daughter calls that Day-Glo pee “radioactive.” And she snarls when she describes pissing razorblades.
~VOW
I hate the taste of cranberry, so the pills (I’ve seen solid tablets or capsules) are a very good idea. Too bad blueberry juice is so hard to find, since I love blueberry anything.
