Non-Trump supporters: what’ll you personally do if he regains the presidency in 2025?

I have family connections in Japan. Theoretically we could go at anytime as I’m a remote worker who is authorized to work there, but it would take some time to wrap up affairs in the US. So it’s really more about watching how the next 2 years play out, gradually getting my affairs in order.

Just like last time, I’m looking to the midterms for any sign of hope. I like Japan, but it’s a big move and I’m not interested in spending the rest of my life there unless there’s no other choice.

Same thing we do every night Pinky…

Pinky? This may be a reference I don’t understand.

My Wife and I will keep playing chess and then a little TV. She’s very competitive, and loses 75% of the time. She is getting much better though.

Pinky and The Brain was a show.

I will end any possible idea of moving to be near one of my kids. It wouldn’t surprise me if one of them moved to Canada. They are their children are dual citizens and could sponsor their spouses.

Segment on the cartoon “Animaniacs.” I don’t acknowledge the standalone show much.

I’m not as concerned about right now, but more for people years or even decades down the line.

Pinky and The Brain were two lab mice who somehow got intelligence. A running joke was Pinky asking, “What do you want to do tonight, Brain?” Brain replied, “Same thing we do every night; take over the world!” Then they’d be off on some wild adventure. It was pretty funny, considering the somewhat thin premise.

Back to the subject at hand, though, I’m staying put. Despite my fears about how much worse Trump, Part 2 might be, I think there’s a limit to how much damage the old maniac can do in the time available.

Now that it isn’t theoretical, I reviewed my prior post, and my answer is still the same. There are too many reasons to stay here, and too many complications to leave. For someone who can pass (Secular Cis/Het Jew) in a blue-ish state (a very red area of one though) the challenges of going elsewhere are too much.

For that matter, I kinda want to stay because if my 15 year old nephew or 12 year old niece in Texas have problems and need to go visit “their favorite uncle in Colorado” for the summer one year it makes sense to me, although my brother is wealthy enough to insulate them from most of the Texas-based dangers teens can get them into.

And against local, lone wolf small scale militias or individuals I feel sufficiently protected, and nothing is going to make me safe from anything larger. Worries-wise though, I’ll fully admit the local law enforcement here is the sort to look the other way.

I’m not so worried about him, because he’s too brain-damaged, in one way or another, to do much damage himself. I’m MUCH more worried about Vance and the other people in power.
