Just dropping in to applaud the responses this thread is getting, along with the fine work Antonius Block has been doing to keep the list updated and summarized.

The parallel thread Southern USA Dopers: Stand and be counted, please is approaching its fourth page of replies and has 163 unique Dopers accounted for. The biggest contingent so far is (ahem!) my state of Tennessee with 33.

So the race is on as to which group will achieve supremacy. The combined groups can surely be seen to represent a sizeable portion of active Dopers – if or when that issue comes up in discussions.

[I lived for four years in [Orléans](Orléans - Wikipedia), with a “bon de transport” (i.e. free SNCF train pass) whenever I wanted, and naturally I spent a great deal of time in Paris. The aspect of the Parc des Buttes Chaumont that I most enjoyed was its three-dimensional nature – a little bit of “wild” in Paris, even if much of the landscape is man-made.]

I should have pointed that, all things working out as planned, in December/January I´ll stop being the only poster from Montevideo, Uruguay and start being the only poster from Bangkok, Thailand; I´ll give proper notice when the time arrives. :slight_smile:

In fact I used to post regular, (as Estilicon), nowadays I am a lurker.
Suscription killed my account. I can only suscribe with a credit car and apparently not with the one I have.
I would gladly pay the 45 pesos If Cecil’s sends someone to collect the bill :slight_smile:

I’m English born, my mum’s Irish & dad’s scottish. I am also Antiguan & Barbudan (two island nation) and that’s where I live. I see the Caribbean (and/or the West Indies) has 11 dopers so far - please count me in to make a dozen!

Wow, that’s one comprehensive thread…I see I’m accounted for already, thank you, Fish Cheer (how about that Munich DopeFest :D) (kind of reminds me of University, where I was always late but still found my name had been written on the sign-up sheet every time).

Since the information that I’m a German in Munich is now not really newsworthy anymore, I’d like to volunteer the interesting tidbit that I was born in Fürstenfeldbruck, which means “the bridge at the field that the duke owns”. Thank you, German word/sentence constructs for always making me squeeze letters in the “Place of birth” space on forms.

Einmon, thanks for popping in to confirm. Fish Cheer had put you in Germany for us, and I’d assumed that “MUC”=Munich (airport code, right?). Always good to have confirmation, and who knows when “The List” will include a “Birthplace” field? (When it does, we’ll be sure to leave enough spaces for you. :slight_smile: )

severus, thanks for the additions. Canadians still lead handily in numbers, and featherlou’s prediction of 100 CanaDopers is this close to being realized on “The List” (currently, the update due to be posted tomorrow has 97).

Pjen, thanks for mentioning RedFury again. He (I know he’s a he) is on my “Location to be Verified” list. We know that he’s Spanish, but do we have confirmation that he currently lives in Spain? I’m almost at the point of e-mailing him. Any Dopers know for sure?

[Incidentally, the other people on the “Location to be Verified” list are Dead Badger and Quartz (who are both in England, I’m almost certain, but don’t yet have a “smoking gun” post from either). There’s also xiix, whose Location is given as “Fukang (China)”, but seems to be in Canada judging by his posts.]

I’m expecting to post a full update summary of the “non-USA-based Doper List” (currently at 324 members!) tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.
