I watched the last episode of “Guns, Germs, and Steel” last night. For those of you who haven’t watched/read it, it’s about why certain areas of the world became more advanced than others. The final episode talked a lot about Africa, and I started to think - do we have any dopers from Africa? I seem to remember one or two who post from South Africa, and perhaps someone in Egypt. Anyone else?
What other countries/areas aren’t represented? Off the top of my head, I know we have:
a gazillion from the US
a good showing of Canadians
Lots of Brits
At least one or two Irish
I seem to remember someone in Paris
Someone in Czechoslovakia
More than a handful of Australians
A lot of New Zealanders (New Zealandians? Kiwis?)
A few in Japan
Paul in Saudi, and perhaps one or two more in Saudi Arabia
I can’t, however, think of anyone in Germany, but there must be someone. Or any of the other European countries. But my guess is that I’m just not remembering.
Where else don’t we have representatives? Anyone in India or Pakistan? How about central Africa? Any other middle easterners? It’s important to get a head count, for when we take over the earth.
I seem to remember someone from Bahrain, and a couple of posters from Brazil? I suspect, though, that many of our asian and middle-eastern dopers are English-speakers abroad in the military or teaching or something else. The default language on the board might restrict things to English-natives and the English-educated.

I don’t think we have anyone in Austria. If we do, I have a small favor I’d like to ask of someone in Vienna.

With this all continents are represented except Antarctica, but African representation is mighty small.
