All right. Since good old ReefBot screwed this sucker up, it’s time to let a WOMAN attempt to organize this. (Although I think Chief agreed to me organizing it mainly to ensure I show up.)
So, we’re still getting together August 26th. I’m open to suggestions on where, when, what to eat…I haven’t been down to Norfolk in over 4 years, so I’m open to suggestions. Also, PLEASE check in here…I want to see how many people will be coming. Also let me know if you’ll be spending the night. Chief posted hotel suggestions in the other thread - I can repost them here if people need/want them.
Needless to say, YES, I’m coming. (No comments, sailorboy.)
I’ll be at the Marriott. Barring that venue, the Sheraton.
My suggestions for chow: Outback or Joe’s Crab Shack (I’m not a vegetarian so I don’t know what there vegetarian menu consists of. If this is unsatisfactory, I’d go with any place downtown on the waterfront)
After dinner drinks and comraderie: I suggest Stormy’s or The Irish Pub.
I’ve done it in about 4 hours from Silver Spring. Of course, that assumes NO traffic anywhere, and I averaged about 75 miles an hour. So on a normal day…4 to 4 1/2 hours.
Since the Chief will probably be a little, ummm, frustrated, I’ll bet youy could get him to kiss me, or anyone (anything?) for nothing. It’s gonna cost much more than a buck to convince me to plant one on that salty old seadog.
Aw c’mon Chief, I’ll need SOME pic to spice up my webpage! Not even for 2 dollars? Please? (Although…would Jophiel get jealous?)
And pipefitter is taking odds? Where can I get in on this? Only poll I knew of was how quickly you’d call me “birdielady.” (Personally, I say within 5 seconds.)

Sorry, I won’t be able to make it this time. Mere and I have a previouse engagment that will take us out of the area. Have a great time, and be sure to keep good notes, with more than 6 people there, it’ll be a lot different than our normal meetings. Also, have you thought about hanging out in Julians? It’s upstairs from Joe’s, and it’s a kinda neat place. After 9pm, they kick everyone out that’s under 21, so it’s only adults, a nice bar, some pool tables, a dance club, a sushi bar, and a huge arcade type place…just a suggestion.
Now that you’re back in town, drop me an e-mail every now and then, and we’ll try and get together for a beer sometime.
I get lost in Norfolk but I’d love to come. I’m closer than most of you only about an hour or two away. I need to make a few trips down there anyway and learn my way around. Think my girl will be going to school there in a couple of years. Can’t make any suggestions on where to go, haven’t been to Norfolk in quite awhile. Virginia Beach is another story though.
Anyone else? Bueller? Melin brought up that it might be best if we all in the same hotel…I don’t know where I’m staying yet, due to my finances being VERY up in the air until I see if I get this new job. crossing fingers
