Kim Jong Un’s latest “he couldn’t have possibly been that stupod” move was to show those pesky Chinese troops on the border who’s boss - by staging day and night paratroop drops along side the border.
He hasn’t been heard from recently, and the last time he was seen, it was attending the 100th birthday of his grandfather, NK’s God. He was not shown speaking - not even the usual wave-the-flag-were-no-1 crap heard at such places.
Now, it is the National Defense Commission (Joint Chiefs of Staff(?)) offering talks (including de-nuclearazation (at least hinted at) and demanding concessions before.
Is the Military now going to clean up the mess the twit started, or is this just a normal dance, and the boss always steps out of the picture at this point?
Its the opposite of what Marx envisioned. A plutocratic hereditary class viewed as gods. North Korea has much more in common with early 20th century Japanese fascism (fascism in general) than it does with communism.
I heard there was a potential coup in the 90s, several high ranking generals were going to march on Pyongyang and several other large cities, then take over from the Kims and establish a military rule. I don’t know how true that plot was but obviously it didn’t happen.
Also that plot was during the 90s famine, when motivation to overthrow would’ve been higher.
I’d assume you’d have to kill the entire Kim bloodline to get rid of the cult.
Or find another “Kim” (there are a couple of half-brothers; at least one cousin) and “find” documents suppressed by Kim Un (and/or his Aunt/:Uncle) proving the newly-discovered Kim is the one Kim Il Sung (deity founder) would have wanted in place, not this “pretender” to the thrown.
There is the military dictatorship style of co;up = two Colonels come up alongside Supreme Leader, each place a bullet into boss’s brain and announce the formation of a provisional government, whereupon the rest of the brass open bets on which will die mysteriously and when. That could work, accusing Kim of treasonous misuse of the military.
It’ll be interesting to see if he makes any more asshole, piss-off-even-China moves,
Both Obama and Kerry are on record against turning this into another round of the “make threats, get food” game.
US opening gambit: you dismantle and destroy the barrels of all artillery which, as of 01 April 2013 was placed so that it could reach the city limits of Seoul as of 01 Jan 1970. (Seoul is now sprawling up to the border - a rifle could hit some 'burb of Seoul from the border. You ship the barrels to Tokyo for Japanese and S. Korean inspection. We’ll cover the shipping.
Since before Kim Jong Un came along Russian and Chinese scientists have been hard at work trying to find a way to capture the kinetic entergy of Chairman Mao, Vladimir Lennin and Karl Marx spinning in their graves. If they succeed neither country would ever have to worry about energy dependency again.
If you ever read Marx, you’d realize what an irony the web-based culture has become.
Marx saw the problem as being that capital was required to organize and equip labor in order for them to be productive - you might be a master machinist, but without drill, mills, saws you can’t produce; even if you could find the tools (say, a photographer - old cameras never die, and darkroom equipment wasn’t that expensive - you COULD be a single-person operation.
Now, finding a market - this is where te capitalists comes in - successful photographers get known by working for capitalists - magazines, studios, et. al.
The web and PC/MAC have spun Karl more than Gorby ever dreamed of - now photographers, musicians, Chefs, - all can hop on a PC and create their products, upload them to marketing (ebay started as a perfect opportunity, b;ut has now pushed the little guy aside - minimum requirements now seem an alibaba account (how soon until ebay buys them?) and an ebay/paypal accounts (ebay owns Paypal, which owns “bill me later”, which is a bank. In 50 years, banking laws are either going to change massively or ebay will be the bank of the online world
So, Karl, the laborer DOES have means of production, and access to market - your communist dream is about to come true…
And, after millions died over the issue, it turns out that NO shot needed to be fired, nor capitalist hanged.
I wonder if Karl/Vladimir/Tse tung are all spinning at the same rate and in the same direction?
Well, the only reason Lenin and Mao are not spinning around wildly in their glass-enclosed biers is that they’ve been securely nailed there (This Revolutionary is no more, he has ceased to be…). But that aside…
…the NK ruling group is starting to notice that nobody in Beijing is laughing at their latest joke. So since The Kim can never be seen as the one yielding, they’re having some other entity call for sitting down to talk over bowing to their demands.
I think it’s already a military dictatorship with a hereditary dynastic figurehead. Until the Great Successor gathers a strong enough praetorian guard loyal to HIM and consolidates his power behind the scenes (a bloodbath of generals), he’s just the PR creation who shows up to look at factorys, do ribbon cuttings, and sit at the front row of boring meetings trying to look interested, yet aloof, and awake for the cameras.
