North of England/South of Scotland floods; everyone OK?

I think we have a few dopers (as well as my family) living in the areas affected by the current flood; everyone OK?

I doubt it’s been on the news outside the UK, but some of it’s been looking pretty bad :frowning:

I’m OK; we’ve had strong winds and lots of rain but the serious stuff is all further south.

Worst consequence was that my father’s wooden driveway gates were ripped off their hinges by the wind and I had to spend much of Sunday fixing them.
The wind is back again today, so I was out last night taking them off their hinges and putting them in the garage to prevent the same thing happening again. (Better safe than sorry)
Have to trail out there again tomorrow morning to re-hang them…

All okay with me, some cracking puddles to push the pram through, and soaked to the skin doing the school run, but nothing affecting me really. A local road was closed for one day with some cars stranded, otherwise my area is waterlogged but business as normal in the western side of the Scottish Central Belt.

Thanks for asking

Parts of Ireland have got a wild doing too. Lot of windy weather here in Dublin but we have avoided the brunt of the flooding and other damage. Bandon in Co. Cork had pretty bad flooding and at least one person is dead as a result of Storm Desmond.

Damn. Didn’t realise it was that bad in Ireland too; the media’s focussing on the UK effects, and my friends over there haven’t really mentioned it, aside from the flight disruption.

No problem here at all, seen things far worse.

Usual suspects flooded, but they do that almost every autumn.

There was mild flooding upstream at Ballater but it’s been fine here in Aberdeen.

The Forth Road Bridge being closed has caused way more problems locally.

From here.

We’ve had a bit of wind and rain down here but nothing unusual. It is unusually warm for this time of year, 11C/52F here right now.

We are off to Aberdeen next week. Haven’t heard from our friends there’s anything remiss.
