I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if it’s too early to register 'em at Dillard’s.
Our receptionist likes to listen to the obituary notices being read on a local radio station at 11:55 A.M. everyday. I was walking past her desk as it was ending. At the end we get the hymn of the day. Now I have the Luterun fight song, AKA, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God stuck in my head.
Swampy, this reminds me of a sermon I heard as a boy at my granny’s church. The pastor, a Southern Baptist, was remembering back when the fledgling church was just getting started and how the had to share a building with the Methodists. The Sunday services ran concurrently but they were seperated by a brick wall between the two congregations.
One particular sunday, our Brother Miles was preaching on the eeevils of alcohol, apparently around the time of Prohibition, how it would cloud the mind and damn the soul. His voice raising to a creshendo, he loudly implored all the congregation to “collect whatever spirits they could find, take them down to the river below and toss them, the Devil’s playtoys, into it’s depths!”
Right then, as his booming message echoed and faded away, from next door through the wall they could hear all the Methodists singing: Yes, we’ll gather at the river
The beautiful, the beautiful river…
I am completely packed now. I even have my suitcases piled on one of those little luggage carts. I’m taking a little rest now for a couple of hours before I leave.
Well, we’re moving at work. Sigh. It looks like I get to pack up and move my desk just before I leave. At least I purged everything a month ago, so there’s not much to move. Yay. The office version of musical chairs, involving over 700 people. My favorite.
One of the perks of workin’ where I do is commercial laundry facilities. We have two humongo commercial washers and two humongo commercial dryers. I just washed and dried two big comforters. This is allowed after all the laundry stuff we do for work is done for the day. Today was a short day, so I was able to put my stuff in right after lunch. I have nice, clean, fluffy, April fresh comforters. Envy me!
Cute kids, Ellen and Lieu. 'Course now you know I’ma gonna hafta counter with one of my own: #2Grandson
Hope everybody who’s hurtin’ dtops hurtin’ soon. And everybody who needs their boobs squished should go do it. To show solidarity, I think I’ll go slam my hand in the door.
I’m going up tonight to find regular turnout gear (old stuff). I have new EMS gear that was ordered just for me, the blue stuff, but I need real turnout gear for class. I have to dig through piles of it - and I think most of it’s going to be waaaay too big.
Cute kid overload!
Cherry Boy is adorable!
The Lutheran Fight song? I woulda guessed “A Might Fortess” also. That’s what sticks in my mind. I’m somewhat of a lapsed Lutheran these days, but that’s what I remember.
La la la, wireless internet in the airport! I’m here ridiculously early, thanks to Mom’s warnings, so I am computing in a jolly manner until I decide to go get something to eat. Am hungry, but I don’t feel like eating.
So this week is cute kid week is it? Maybe we should be making notes for future MMP Cool Kid matchups. We could have many arranged marriages. I best be stocking up on blenders for wedding gifts.
