Northern VA Multi-Birthday Dope Feb 15

Hummmmph!! You waited until I had to cancel out, to avoid seeing me again, didn’t you! :stuck_out_tongue:

I got brand new tires. I escaped from work before the “Oh my God it’s snowing, make people stay an extra shift” panic became official. I am there.

I think I will be on main roads for all but a hundred feet, if you count the Tyson’s Parking Lot as a main street. Vienna is wealthy beyond reason, and will obviously still be plowing. The rest is Fairfax County, and very heavily traveled roads. It’s gonna have to snow one whompin’ big snow fall to close down those roads. Plus all the complete weenies will be off the road, 'cause it’s the weekend.

Piece of cake.

Several pieces, probably. Neener neener.

Tris

Great save!

Just popped outside, and here in Central PA, we got some snow, but not so much that the roads are icky. If worse comes to worst, we can always pack for a last-minute weekend trip and get a room somewhere. Just to be safe, though, I’ll keep an eye out on the weather till noon or so. If it’s too dangerous, we will stay home.

Robin

Heyll no, you’ll drive back up to our place and stay here!

We’ll make our executive decision about 1:30 - right now it’s looking OK to me. We’re going to venture forth in a bit to get breakfast, so we’ll get a look at the local roads.

Stupid snow.

Dang it – how bad is it? We’re about 3 hours away from you all and I’m a California girl, not ashamed to say I’m skeered of the snow. My husband, on the other hand, is from Wisconsin and he says if I want to come, he’ll drive me there. We were going to leave here at 10:30 so I’ll check back in with you locals around 10:15 or so. I was really looking forward to this – especially now, as it looks like there will be fewer people and, thus, more cake.

Jess

Right now, it isn’t bad. I just got back from a quick run to Annapolis. Roads have the occasional slick spot, but are otherwise fine. Take 5-10mph off your speed on the straightaways, 10-15 around curves, and you’ll be fine.

I expect Mrs. F. will lobby for us to stay home. (Don’t be too hard on her - she’s a Florida girl.) Right now, I’m leaning towards going anyway.

Yeah, it’s not bad. Here in NoVa I’ve got about 2-3 inches of snow and the roads are clear. It’s going to be a piece of cake.

And I may be older than I look but I couldn’t possibly be older than I feel.

I’m driving, so we’re coming, unless the boss (Robin, that is) usurps my decision.

The roads are peachy fine. Most of NOVA didn’t get smacked very hard last night. It’s supposed to pick up later in the evening, but right now everything is great. I’ll be there.

Well, I’m afraid I’m pussing out. It’s the spending the night part that’s gotten me. If we were close enough to come just for the party and then drive home that’d be one thing. But I’d worry all night that we’d be snowed in tomorrow morning. So try not to miss me too much and I’ll plan to make the next one. And enjoy the cake (I was really looking forward to the cake!)

Jess the wuss

I’ll be there, I had to come into work so I’m even closer. Though the roads aren’t bad the people are. One would think that on slick roads people around here would slow down a bit, yeah right.

We didn’t get ANY snow where I am :frowning:

The snow has stopped in Balto and when we went out earlier, it was just slushy on side roads and wet on main roads. Steve’s taking a nap right now, and as long as he feels OK when he gets up, we’ll be hitting the road around 1:30.

I call dibs on the cake that was for Jess!!

My parking lot’s clear, and that’s usually the worst part of the road on a snow day. I guess I’ll head out.

Unless the weather gets really, really bad in the next hour and a half, we’ll be there.

We’re almost out the door.

Robin

Us, too. We’re leaving in the next half hour.

Yep, I’ll be there. Tyson’s is right by our place.
