Not conventionally pretty, but attractive nonetheless

Wow. This just goes to show how different people’s ideas can be. If i opened up to the “conventionally attractive” entry in the dictionary, i would not be at all surprised to see that picture.

For me, this is much better.

I’ve always liked Ellen Barkin as an actor, and i do find her attractive, but that lop-sided smile and slightly cross-eyed look she has do, in my opinion, make her somewhat unconventional. They don’t come across so well in that picture, i don’t think, but are much more obvious when you see her moving on screen.

What about Yeardley Smith. Her eyes are very close together, in an Alfred E Neuman kind of way, and she has a unique voice, famously used to great effect of course, but when she was on Herman’s Head I found her very appealing.

I love her, no doubt.

But I think she’s conventionally unattractive.

I’d do her 'cuz she’s famous, though.

She’s sure got some competition in Madmen but possibly Elizabeth Moss fits the OP

There’s something about Samantha Morton

Agatha!!

This is who I was going to mention. She is smokin’ in Ocean’s Thirteen too.

If you’re not going to post seriously, why post at all? I mean, really, Megyn Price is a tall long-haired blonde with fairly large breasts. How much more conventionally pretty can you get?

How about:
Ani Difranco
(young) Sinead O’Connor

Miss Piggy

My reference is dated (as is just about everything about me), but I’d nominate Jenny Agutter. There’s something about her face that just isn’t right, but the overall effect is very attractive.

And one thing about “unconventional” prettiness is that sometimes it ages well.

It looks to me like some people are making their point by posting links to the worst pictures they could find. I would suggest alternatives.

Claudia Black

Alyson Hannigan

Meryl Streep

Uh… aside from the shaved head thing (which I can see some people not liking), what part of Sinead O’Connor is anything other than stop-in-your-tracks gorgeous?

I think the shaved head is what makes her “not conventional”.

Kate Micucci, of Garfunkel & Oates (as well as Scrubs and a number of commercials). Finding a pic that was neither unflattering nor stylized in such a way that minimized her “quirky” look was kinda tough. YouTubing some G & O videos is probably your best bet (for a few reasons).

ETA: Oh, and I second the idea that some folks maybe have a weird idea of what’s conventionally attractive. Even someone like Allyson Hannigan, who isn’t exactly “beautiful,” is undeniably very “cute” — i.e., attractive.

I tend to think of beauty as inherent, while things like hairstyles are choices.

How about:

Dichen Lachman

I would think her narrow face combined with the oriental features would qualify as unconventional. It has been suggested I find her attractive because she looks like a friend of mine.

Patti Smith

I nominate Christine Baranski
