I would think her narrow face combined with the oriental features would qualify as unconventional. It has been suggested I find her attractive because she looks like a friend of mine.

Natalie Merchant is a bit of a two-face. In some pictures she looks really pretty. In others, not so much. The same effect comes through in videos. From some angles she looks great, from others, pretty ordinary. She can look pretty and plain by turns in the same video. Also, she seems to struggle a bit with her weight. (Not too badly, though.)

Anyway, in all her incarnations I find her very attractive-- for her voice and also for her attitude and carriage.

I always thought that she was gorgeous, but I remember that some of my friends considered her “not conventionally pretty”.
