It’s not just the obsessive adulation he lavishes on the current Oval Office Occupant. Near-psychotic toadying and self-effacement at the feet of the One True Obama is common enough, and tends to be self-parodying enough that it can be ignored, or laughed off.
It’s that the fucking troll will lie thru his teeth, directly and openly, and contradict himself, and then lie some more and deny that he did it. Then someone with more patience than common sense will cite, clearly and directly, to show beyond doubt that he has said A and then not-A, explicitly and directly. And that fuckingly fucking fuck-fucker NotfooledbyW will lie again and pretend he didn’t say it!
Take this thread, or this one. In this he argues that he never viewed the coup in Egypt as a coup, except when it was a coup, and the coup is actually a democracy, except that an election which is overturned is negated and not rendered invalid, but not the election itself, that Chuck Hagel never said Syria was acting out of incompetence or dragging her feet when he said they were acting either out of incompetence or were dragging their feet.
NotfooledbyW, you’ve gone over the edge. You are no longer simply lying - you are delusional. You’re crazy, mad, cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, not dealing from a full deck, several French fries short of a Happy Meal. If brains were fireworks, you would have a half-empty book of wet matches. You sit outside whorehouses waiting for the light to change. Your house has no ice cubes because you lost the recipe. You spend hours before a carpentry project picking out the nails that have the heads on the wrong end. You stay up late at night studying for your urine test. You scale chain-link fences to see what is on the other side. You named your pet zebra Spot. You still have frostbite from the drive-in movie when you went to see “Closed for the Winter”. When people offer you a penny for your thoughts, you have to give change.
My enjoyment of this board went up slightly when I simply stopped paying any attention to him. He clearly has some kind of mental illness, for the following reasons:
He cannot understand what others write in plain English, and frequently re-interprets his own writing; yet his ability to form grammatically correct sentences indicates it is his first language.
His deification of Obama is simply bizarre. This is coming from the guy who has “Barackington, DC” as his location.
He appears to keep some sort of record of other people’s posts, probably offline, because he periodically pulls out portions of old posts at weird times with strange quotation marks and time references. He might log posts into Excel or something; I’m pretty sure he doesn’t actually go back searching for those little snippets.
His name is the height of irony. I know there are people who agreed with GWB about Iraq, and thought that the invasion of Iraq was a genuinely good thing. I strongly disagree, but whatever. But he literally bought the whole WMD Iraq threat hook, line and sinker and believes Bush was telling the truth about not wanting to go to war. He was fooled by the WMD claims, fooled by Bush’s statements to the effect that he didn’t want to invade Iraq (seriously, does anyone else in the world really believe this?), and yet he claims NOT to have been fooled.
He kind of scares me. I think he mentioned once that he lives in Northern Virginia, which makes me a little worried that if I argue with him too much he may try to track me down and “send me a message.” He’s clearly unstable.

And that’s one of the funniest things about him (and not “ha-ha” funny, either). His style is just like GWB’s style (you’re either with us or against us), but he doesn’t realize it.
But, as many of us have noted, he does have the “special” talent of being able to unite posters on this MB who rarely, if ever, agree with each other. I find it best if we approach him as someone who needs to be corrected, but not debated with. It’s impossible to debate with someone who spreads as much ignorance as he does. And you know, sometimes it is fun (in a perverse sort of way) to shoot fish in barrel.
His coding ability is the worst I have ever seen on this MB. That, and his torturing of the English language make his posts often incomprehensible.
I always find it… Completely Fucking Insane when posters keep spreadsheets or off-board records of what people said.
Some years back there was a small group of posters (some of whom have been banned and at least one of whom is still around but doesn’t post much since her buddies are gone) that kept a spreadsheet of embarrassing things that some people had posted in order to use as ammunition against those people when they got into arguments with them.
His coding is so atrocious that it is hard for me to see this, although it could certainly be true. He also has an unfortunate habit of re-posting his silliness over and over again, as if it’s going to make sense the second time, so I tend to lose track of when he is quoting himself, when he is quoting someone else, and when he is requiting misquotes of someone else.
It’s not original, but every joke is new to someone.
I haven’t formed an opinion about **NotfooledbyW **because I’ve never managed to read through an entire post of his without falling asleep. He seems to have the magical power of turning any thread he posts in into boring as fuck.
At first I thought his schtick was supposed to be a Republican parody of Democratic supporters. I was really, really disturbed when I figured out he meant it. Now I just don’t go into any threads he’s posting in.

Yeah, the only people I’ve heard use phrases like “The Messiah Obama” have been really-right-wingers, as in “frothing out of the right wing of their mouths” like Rush.

Not really, no. Yours is a great example of letting personal animus and political bias send you once again off the wall, however. Shodan and NFBW aren’t even in the same universe…well, except in your mind apparently.
As to the OP:
I used to think he was a troll as well. Obviously he is stupid, and incredibly thick headed, but I’ve gradually come to the realization that he’s got mental serious issues. I’ve been in threads with him where he suddenly takes a posters comments completely out of context and intent and works them, in his own mind at least, into being in perfect agreement with whatever ridiculous point he was tying to make. He’s done that with my own posts in threads where I spent the whole thread either ridiculing him or attempting to penetrate his meter think concrete skull…in his mind, suddenly I’m on his side and then he’s holding this up as some sort of proof that he was right all along (as if my own opinion, even if it was the twisted muddle he thinks it is, is ipso facto proof). It’s…disturbing.
Myself, I just avoid discussions where he’s involved, and if he pops into a thread I’m in I basically ignore his responses. I mean, it’s not even entertaining to make fun of him…sort of like kicking a particularly stupid baby duckling into a pond full of crocodiles. You can’t reason with him, you can’t debate with him, so there is nothing to do but ignore him. He’s already had a time out IIRC (didn’t he get a month off from the mods over his antics?), so it’s only a matter of time before he shuffles off this particular mortal coil we call the SDMB, so just gut it out and give him rope. In his case I won’t even be particularly happy or satisfied when the axe comes down, as again it’s like kicking that really stupid and mentally disturbed duckling into the croc pond…the duck will have a sad and confused look in it’s eye, wondering why this has happened to it. And NFBW will have that same exact look once he’s been BANNED.
*My *political bias? When was the last **Shodan **post that was not completely predictable? **NFBW **is simply the Democratic Shodan. Except for *supporting *his arguments, cherry-picked though they be.
