And now let me ridicule this thought… "…given a more active Democratic campaign, it would be a clear win in the other direction. " Uh huh, well, that’s a fascinating insight. Amazing how it only came now. It would have been far more credible if you had been saying this since last week, when you were presumably apprised of the strength of the Democratic campaign.
No. This was a rejection of the left by a majority of the voters. Period.
How exactly does a Bush victory prove anything besides that the American electorate is controlled by fear?
I mean, I don’t mean to piss on your party or everything, but Bush’s campaign has basically been “Stick with me or you’ll die.” I still don’t know what his plans for the next four years are, nor do I know how he intends to get out of Iraq, nor have I seen him remorseful for any mistakes he’s made.
I’m sorry, but you can’t just assume that people voted for Bush because the country is becoming progressively conservative and the left is becoming marginalized. I would grudgingly grant you this if Bush’s campaign were based on anything but the ideas that wolves will kill you and Kerry’s a flip-flopper, but as I see it, Bush played the “I can protect you” shtick for all its worth. Does it mean Americans are becoming more conservative? Possible. I wouldn’t say it’s likely, though, at least until Bush starts becoming a conservative.
If it makes you feel better to ridicule that thought, go ahead. If you want to mentally masturbate to the fact that you “called it” last year, go ahead. For your information, I’ve never been overly happy with this campaign, and I don’t care – at all – how ‘credible’ that statement is to you.
…I actually think that you will find that in a couple of years time, the eyes of the American “right” will have their eyes opened…as long as your country continues along the path you are on, the United States will become more and more marginalised internationally-you already can’t get any more international support for that debacle in Iraq, New Zealand pulled thier forces out a month or so ago because due to lack of security-there was NOTHING THEY COULD DO. Congradulations America, if Bush does win the election tonight-you’ve just lost any respect your country could hope to gain from this little corner of the world. Good Luck.
I would honestly feel much better if the Bush supporters I have spoken to actually paid attention to his policies, and merely disagreed with my views. Unfortunately, the majority of the ones I have met personally say things like “He’s a good man; he has high morals. He prays.” as if that has anything to do with actually running the country.
