NM looks likely to go to Bush. ABC’s numbers do not comport with FNC or Yahoo.

If they aren’t careful, they are going to run out of people to blame. He hasn’t “inherited” the problems, so to speak. He’s been the President for almost four years. That makes it harder to blame Clinton.

And with a Republican Congress and, most likely, a right leaning SCOTUS, he had better shape up or there will be no way to worm out of it.

Hmm…Now NBC is saying there are 400,000 votes to be counted in Ohio. Huh?

I really don’t mean this as a snarky remark, but mandate shmandate. No one cares about a mandate except the side that loses. It’s just the way it is. If Kerry won by the slimist of margins, would he forget about trying to rescind the tax cuts for “the rich”? No.

Good point, except the abortion part. “Abhors abortion” is meanignless, and there is no way the Dems would nomniate a pro-choice candidate.

Kerry won 67-33% in the counted Cuyahoga ballots. Anything’s possible.

Just an aside:

Best TV coverage: Fox News Channel.

Best non-SDMB Internet coverage: CNN. Awesome site.

11032 of 11477 precincts - 96 percent
George W. Bush (i) Rep 2,685,059 - 51 percent
John F. Kerry Dem 2,564,047 - 49 percent
Michael Badnarik NP 13,715 - 0 percent
Michael Peroutka NP 11,599 - 0 percent

Bush’s lead is growing in Ohio…

They didn’t get the Rove memo.

A representative from Ohio just now said, on ABC, that they have no numbers yet but are working to find out.

Sure. You keep dreaming that dream. This is America. Anything can happen.

The networks have been dreadful. FNC has been excellent.

Not a Kerry win. Bush is ahead 122,000+ votes according to CNN.

Not all of the provisional votes will count.

What, exactly, is your goal, again? Wouldn’t it be easier for you to just not reply? Because it seems to be you’re just trolling now. JMHO.

Thats 300,000 + 100,000 to 250,000 BTW so there’s potentially 550,000 still to count.

All as per CNN and the SoS of Ohio. That’s why they’re calling it too close to call.

And now for something completely different…

Looks like Daschle lost. That’s a big hit for the Democrats.

Does Bush getting reelected mean the terrorists win. After all, that latest Osama video makes me think he’s really a Republican…

Fear Itself said:

I’m not. The EC is what matters. But you guys sure went on about the popular vote. Going to change your tune if Bush wins the popular vote by a margin six times larger than Gore’s?

But there is something else here - the popular vote gave Gore a bit of a moral standing to proceed with EC challenges. But Kerry is losing this thing 48-52. If he also loses the EC, then a legal challenge against the EC is not going to be received nearly as well by the people, I’d think. Bush is clearly the choice of the electorate as a whole, and if he wins the EC as well, that makes a challenge pretty difficult, doesn’t it?

That’s cool, w/ me. that’s the best disalarming smile I could find

You made a good point I thought.

What, you didn’t like my little editorial?

I think you meant to say that there’s no way the Dems would nominate a pro-life, anti-abortion candidate.

Maybe they ought to think about it though.

They won’t nominate a segregationist either. Backwards is backwards.
