Huh. He claims never to have been consulted about the settlement, to have only found out about the accusations after the case was settled. Is this plausible? If so, it’s highly bizarre.
Man, that guy has been a disgrace to the party for years already. You’ve got to figure someone who ran for office after being impeached for corruption will ignore party leadership’s demands to resign. Any chance of a competitive primary?
Yeah, Alcee Hastings history of impeachment and removal from a Federal judgeship and several other questionable bits of behavior make me not very inclined to take his word on what he knew about this settlement. He has been ethically challenged regarding multiple issues for decades. The Democrats would be wise to just let this one go.
