Now Charles is "The Judd" [David Koch dead at 79]

David Koch dead at 79.

Just read this.

You might want to change the thread title – it’s not overwhelmingly obvious what this refers to.
My question is – What Happens Now? I don’t know anything about the Koch brother dynamic. Will this change Charles’ involvement? Or was the a driving force in funding the right wing?

From what I’ve read, Charles Koch was the brother most involved and invested in the political movement. And I also understand that the organizations they set up are designed to out-live them.

Dang. I guess all that money couldn’t buy immortality.

What, Frederick and Bill are nothing? Just because you get into legal fights that lasted decades doesn’t mean that only Charles gets a mention.

(Apparently old man Fred encouraged actual fighting, picking on, etc. among the brothers as children. Insert obvious pop-psych diagnosis here.)

Yeah. What the hell is a “Judd”?

Sorry. It was a “Larry Sanders Show” reference.

When they had Wynonna Judd on the show (without Naomi), Larry’s co-host Hank introduced her as “The Judd” because there’s “just one of them.”

The actual line spoken in the episode is “How do you place a value on a man who introduces Wynonna Judd as ‘The Judd?’”

It’s more than that – The uninformed reading the thread title would have no idea that it refers to the death of David Koch. It’s just too obscure.
I understand the point of being clever. But we should strive for transparency with wit. I know that can be a challenge.

I thought this was going to be about the pet name the Duchess of Cornwall uses for her beau.

Having just seen the news about David Koch, I figured an obscure reference to someone named Charles was about that news, even if I didn’t get the reference.

I’ll say it: Fuck him and his entire life’s work and his entire fucking family. May they join him as soon as fate allows.

“I did not attend his funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it.”

You should only speak good of the dead. David Koch is dead. Good.
