Have you changed any f your settings?
What theme are you in? Best results are with “Straight Dope v3.7.3”
Don’t change from the drop down box on the bottom of the page, that only works for that page. Go to UCP / Edit Options / scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the skin v3.7.3.
Click “Save Options.” And you should be good to go.
If that does not fix things for you, try clearing your cache and resetting your cookie.
Let me know what happens here please.

thanks, Jenny. And thank that other Jenny, too.
Nope, still doing it.
That could be a problem with your browser as well. If it’s clearing the cookie for the SDMB, it would essentially log you out. If you have another browser, try that and see if the problem keeps happening.
Thanks, filmore.
dropzone, are you logging in manually? Are you checking the box that says “Remember Me?” If it’s not checked, it won’t remember you.
But the cookie could be corrupted too, I would expect that to be more what’s happening here.

teach your grandpa to suck eggs!
Make sure you’re accessing the site through https and not http. I once clicked through on a link that was http and weird stuff happened, including getting logged out frequently.
Hmm I on the HTTP side and dont get dropped thankfully… (I always check REMEMBER ME)
Thanks for the reminder, Pleonast. That could also give a user problems.
Dropzone, check your bookmark to make sure it says “https” and not just http. I realize this is harder these days if you use Chrome because in their infinite wisdom they now only show truncated urls. You have to click on it twice to see the whole damn thing.
Jenny
I’ll try that next time I’m on my laptop. Right now I’m using my Fire and I don’t have that problem with it.
I’m advance, thanks!
Yeah, it was http. Thanks!
I should probably make a sticky about that. Thanks for getting back to us.
Jenny
I was having the same problem, and making sure I was connecting to https seems to have solved it for me as well.
When you don’t sign in with https, the system will log you out every time you change pages. Guaranteed.

Is it possible to auto-redirect http requests to https? Or would that break something else?
