Now that the campaign is over, what will you miss?

Election day has come and gone, and with it, campaign ads.

Fare thee well, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. I’ll miss you.

What are you going to miss? Seriously. I think I’ll miss my wife asking me what she could expect at the polls as she voted for the first time yesterday. It was kinda neat to see how her non-politically affiliated mind works sometimes. Since we don’t really have the motivation to discuss our politics with each other (not exactly pillow talk, you know?) I’ll miss that period of getting to know her more.

I’ll miss that last shred of hope that things might actually get better.

The last of my illusions.

Nothing.

I need the rest.

My patriotism and pride in America. It’s going to be awhile before I can truly be proud again.

You beat me to it.

Me too.

Nothing.

This was a very tense, ugly election that came down to the wire, and I’m glad it’s over.

Now we can get back to the business of making America better.

Hope,
my apparently deluded belief in the basic decency of Americans,
basic protections under the Bill of Rights,
not being loathed by other countries,
a balanced SC -
the list, it is endless.

But mostly hope.

Heh, I was thinking this could be kept light (maybe “light” isn’t the right word; perhaps “not so bleak” would be better), but hindsight being what it is, maybe I should have started this in the BBQ Pit.

While it hasn’t degenerated into a pit-worthy thread to this point, perhaps if a mod happens upon this, they’d feel more comfortable moving before it does?

I’ll miss the presidential debate drinking games, but my liver and AA sponsor won’t.

Yep, me too.

I feel like a death row inmate who just very narrowly lost an appeal that appeared for months and months like it was going to go through successfully.

Not what, who. I’ll miss Brokaw.

Same here. :frowning:

You said it, brother. :frowning:

Right out of my mouth.

The corporate takeover of American governance proceeds apace.

I’ll miss turning on the radio or TV, and hearing from a leader who’s articulate, intelligent, and not afraid to show it.

Mostly hope and pride.

At least now I will probably collect on all those bets I made about what Bush would do if elected to a second term.

Hope, a sense of national pride and respect for 60 million of my fellow countrymen.
