Now that the campaign is over, what will you miss?

Must be nice on the sunny side of America, right? Speak for yourself! Enough food? Assuming you’re still gainfully employed! Have you ever been on the other side? America has an ugly backside. Look beyond the Bush’s facade. Have you ever been sold a bill of goods by some marketing mgr telling you’re not laid-off, just displaced, reorganzied, downsized, outsourced… and it’s all for the best, of course. And, it’s happening everywhere, so it’s the norm, so I need not have a conscience about kicking you out on the street due to our greedy corporate merger of which I shall be glad to replace your people with my people.
And guess what? I’ve been on the “winning side” of a corporate buy-out, and the damn thing can even happen in reverse due to under-the-table deals to which the Feds say “let business regulate itself?”

The truth? No one wins. But, Bush and his people will make sewage smell like roses, and you’ll believe him as you submit to his euphoric view of his business-run USA. I say let’s outsource from the top!

And, as for HDTV, that’s all America is…a country of conspicuous consumption…and self-absorption. For 49% of us, there are no more tomorrows. We can no longer afford to wait for Georgy Boy to wake up and smell the rotten economy, et al. I’m sorry America, you’re following men of dishonor.

Funny how I dont’ recall seeing a Bush or Cheyney in the unemployment lines!
Funny how Haliburton gets handed Fed contracts gratis - without taking competitie bids - while Haliburton overcharges the military!?! And, this doesn’t bother you how the government is spending your money without followin the laws which are supposed to guard against such conflicts of interest?

Bush must be a great ranch hand - closing the door after the horses have left the stables! - Jinx

No, Democrats in general are my only practical hope for replacing a great tyranny with a lesser one. My repulsion was directed at the man who slapped my hand away when I offered it in reconciliation and in the spirit of truce.

Even Jesus was not nice to Pharisees.

I’d like to dedicate a pre-emptive “miss” for all the members of the Armed Forces who will die in the next four years. Sorry guys, I tried to support you but the other guy won. Good luck.

I’ll miss the sense that Middle America isn’t eyeing me and my kind waiting for a sign of weakness so they can grab their metaphorical (and literal) 2x4s and wade in bashing. I’ll miss the innocent belief that maybe all of those suburban and rural conservatives aren’t anti-gay, that maybe they’ve just never MET a gay person and never realized that we’re just like them, really.

Now I know better. Who knew I could remain an innocent for 33 years in this world?

So now you’re Jesus, huh? I see.

I see that you are a nasty, spiteful son of a bitch 99% of the time, and then once in a while you put on a fake holy face as if that makes it all better.

I’ll miss Lib when he’s finally carted off in a straight jacket. In the same way I miss dinner when my plate is taken away and the dessert cart comes around.

What will I miss?

Easy…Televised Goose Hunting.

As long as you have your breads and circuses, eh, PunditLisa?

Well, he spends enough time on a cross. Then again, even Jesus thought a few hours hours was long enough.

Oh, stop it, you two. You’ll embarass me with your flattery.

I miss not a goddamned thing. Good riddance.

I miss all the threads telling us how only stupid people would vote for Bush…

I live in Florida, which means I haven’t seen a non-political commercial in three months.

I’ll miss three-minute orgies of brainless, witless venom at every damned station break.

I wonder if lib is on that medicine that causes psychosis again…

Did, um, Liberal just accuse someone else of being condescending? That’s an impressive lack of self-awareness you’ve got going on there, dude.

Me, I’m going to miss Liberal’s nasty and condescending posts peppered throughout every single election-related thread from the last year. Sure, there will still be plenty in most of the threads in GD or the Pit, but it’s just not the same, you know?

Furt, you are a bona-fide genius. I’m gonna run for Congress and all my ads will have the Miller Lite catfight girls explaining my positions and then wrestling over them.

Will you run in PA too?

The truth? Kerry wasn’t going to fix outsourcing. When you compete against people in third world countries who are willing to work for $.75/hour in wages, American workers will lose no matter how many incentives you throw at them. When manufacturers have to deal with retailers such as Walmart, where profit margins are as thin as dimes, American workers will lose.

Love it or hate it, business has become a global enterprise and there’s no turning back. Love it or hate it, Walmart is here to stay.

The answer is not government subsidies or more stringent tariffs. The answer is the same as it’s always been: adaptation. U.S. corporations will have to adapt to the changing global economy and find their new niche. The days where dad could find a job with a union and be assured a job for life are long over. And in true Darwinian fashion, the people who can adapt to the new global economy will prosper. The people who cannot will suffer. And no matter what you might believe, John Kerry wasn’t going to stop the inevitable bleeding.

Nope, rjung. As long as I have my sense of humor. I hope that one day soon you find yours again.
