It’s going to be interesting to see if the kid keeps up the growth rate for very long.
I was told that it is typical for babies of diabetic mothers to be bigger than average. My OB said that it can be kind of risky for them to have a vaginal birth, because you get the baby’s normal sized head out and then there’s this great big body stuck at the shoulders. My son was almost 10 pounds (no diabetes), but fortunately he was a string bean.
Still, 17 pounds!
