Some news from Excite.com - don't want to spoil the surprise!

Check this out.

EeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeK!

I’m glad they didn’t make her pass this one the usual way!!!

16 freakin pounds.

Ugh.

The same thing happened here not long ago. I would dig up a cite but it will be in Spanish anyways. Apparently babies born this big are routinely checked for diabetes.

As a side note: I once had a BF whose mother had given birth to 6 children, the smallest was 9 lbs, my ex was born at 13 lbs. None by cesarean. Nobody in the family was shorter than 6’, which kinda explains it.

Fezzik lives.

Is this baby likely to be above average size as an adult?

Would a mother typically have died while birthing a child this size before modern medicine?

#1 I don’t know. But #2, probably, and the mother, too, since she birthed it via a Cesearean. I *know * that’s not spelled right.

My aunt was around 14 lbs. Grandmom was bedridden for some three months after. I say “Grandmom” . . . this was 1940 or so.
