Slap Bet was one of the greatest things they ever did in that show. Especially, Slapsgiving ![]()
So did I! (Of course, I would.)
Not a bad show, overall. NPH is one of the best guest hosts because he’d be perfect as a regular. He fits right in. I didn’t recognize the theme music in the digital short although I guessed that was it was, but it was a superior digital short because there was no Andy Sandberg. And the opening required a Fred Savage intervention.
The political opener is usually my favorite bit, but this one lacked. So the new girl looks like Rachel Maddow. All she was given to say was endless repetitions of “then what?” and let them make gay jokes about her.
Kristen Wiig needs to be drowned in a barrel of eels.
I’ve heard lots of bad things about Taylor Swift but she topped them all. I just assumed they went to a nearby bar and brought in somebody who lost a karaoke contest to do the singing.
So why do I consider this a good episode overall? Mostly because I find most of the humor in the show to be so cringe-inducing that it’s unwatchable and there wasn’t much of that this time. No outstanding bits, but decent sketches. My standards for SNL have reached that point.
Will Forte looked different but I couldn’t put my finger on what had changed? New hairstyle?
And, of course, I had to love “S my D!” during Weekend Update.
I’d go so far as to call HIMYM as the last of the great multi-camera sitcoms.
I thought that was a guy in drag doing Liza Minelli.
I didn’t se the whole thing - was there a Dr. Horrible reference?
thanks
Brian
That wasn’t a dress, that was a shirt! She just forgot to wear pants.
Yeah, her overacting is annoying. If she toned it down 9 notches, it might be tolerable. Of course, then the writing will also have to be improved for her sketches.
She’s not a virgin. It was her uncle.
I don’t remember seeing one, and I was sort of looking out for it. NPH’s monologue and the digital short had Doogie Howser references, the monologue also used “How I Met Your Mother,” and he played an even whinier than normal Mark Cohen (the narrator character of Rent, who he played in regional theatre) in the Sardi’s sketch. But no Dr. Horrible that I noticed.
Just bumping this to point out that they finally added the Doogie Howser bit to Hulu.
Hooray for the tubes!
I almost went to bed before the last skit, cause it’s almost always just some lame, short, time filler. Turns out it was the Whopper Virgin Outtakes, which must surely have been the funniest final skit ever.
Taylor Swift isn’t much of a singer but she looks great. I guess that’s the main thing you need now.
The lady who did the impression of Kathy Lee Gifford on the Today Show was spot on. (good god I hate that bitch)
That was Kristen Wiig, and I thought she was hilarious in that sketch. The funny faces were great, and I loved the end when she was dancing across the screen instead of doing the aerobics. She should stick with that character instead of Penelope.
This was one of the few recent SNL’s that had me laughing at nearly every sketch. NPH was great in practially everything he did.
I LOVED the “Broadway in Trouble” sketch…that is classic SNL in my book.
