NPR Does a Condoleeza

The ombundsman for National Public Radio says he’s received more than 5,000 messages about Bob Edwards’ departure from Morning Edition.

Now, NPR will hold an online chat

so listeners can address their questions directly.

They say this is the first of “several forums” about NPR programming. Perhaps I haven’t been listening closely, but I don’t ever remember NPR announcing a programming change and then having to host a nationwide chat to try to mollify their listeners.

How does Bob feel about this?

I think it’s great that they’re responding in a positive way.

Me, I don’t get going early enough to listen in the a.m., but if he’s been doing the show for almost 25 years, it’s understandable that NPR would be hearing from loyal listeners.

Is something going on behind the scenes that we’re not hearing about? Like new management, trying to shake things up just to show that they’re doing something?
