it can be funny - they seem to be willing to take a Daily Show-type stab at Bush and other political types, while also featuring music and other topics…
Faith Salie seems to be very quick on her feet and can therefore roll with interviews and see where they go
Her “presence” is pretty overt - she embraces her own quirky style, so it is very self-conscious and takes some getting used to
Forgive the potentially-sexist aspect of this, but it is clear from her voice, inflections and general demeanor, that she is a hottie. Kinda weird, but even on radio, it just jumped out and made me want to check the website for a photo and sure enough - hot. She reminds me, in both appearance and style, of the actress who played Harriet Hayes on Studio 60 - Sarah Paulsen. Kinda bizarre, but I find it a bit distracting - even on radio, I don’t like my talking heads to be too distractingly hot. In NYC, I can never take the news from Liz Cho seriously…well, that has as much to do with the crap channel 7 news, but she is too distractly overdone and hot…
Sweet sufferin’ succotash! I’m pretty sure I’d be content listening to those lips all day. Thanks, WordMan, from a now even more devoted NPR… ummm… devotee.
I’ve listened to this a few times, and it’s alright. Depending on when I leave work, it starts as I get close to home. Of course, for me to listen to this means the Yankees aren’t playing or are getting pounded, so I haven’t really given it a full chance yet.
I’m not going to address the hotness issue - blondes aren’t my thing anyway - but her speaking style reminded me too much of Terri Gross for me to enjoy at first. Fortunately, Faith seems to be a much smarter and likable interviewer than Gross.
I listen to the radio show when I can, which isn’t often, so I’ve started downloading the podcasts. She’s had some incredible music on the show in the past and I don’t want to miss any more.
On edit: her fake commercials rock. Kim Jong Il promoting Netflix was barbed and funny.
