NY GOP Congressman Christopher Lee Resigns in Sex Scandal

Did Boehner cry?

When they can’t think of a way to stay in office. Vitter and Larry Craig managed to stay in office, to name two. It may just be harder to replace a Senator but that’s based on a limited sample size.

Representatives are a dime a dozen. Hell, I have a few make’n a racket in my crawl space right now.

Yes - probably why I didn’t recognize him on the plane.

He’s a future psychic!

Heh. Boehner probably did cry, who needs a special election in a district which might be combined with a new one soon anyway? I’ve also heard that Boehner was on his case already for pursuing female lobbyists, so the quick resignation seems to have been a case of the thin ice finally cracking.

I was off a bit in my OP, apparently he was in his second term and was known for campaigning against earmarks and yet wrangling nearly $30 million in them for his district.

Generally, I would agree. Even if he had gone through and cheated on his wife, that’s still his personal problem with his wife, and says nothing about his ability to make good laws.

However, the cluelessness and technical stupidity displayed are a good real reason to send him off. Although if that were a checking point, you’d have to kick out a lot more…

Hey, at least he’s tech savvy enough to realize the internet isn’t a series of tubes; it’s a place for hooking up and lying.

And watching porn. duh.

Aaaaaaand, all is right in the world. Phew. It was getting dicey there for a minute.

At this point it’s long overdue to ask: What are their mothers/fathers/preachers/coaches telling them?

“It’s not a sin if you don’t stick it in”?

This is what makes these things funny instead of sad:

Yesterday, we reached out to Rep. Lee, whose support for “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” and vote to reject federal abortion funding suggests a certain comfort with publicly scrutinizing others’ sex lives.

Indeed.

Thanks, I hadn’t seen the follow-ups. Wow. Although AFAIK the feds haven’t funded abortions since the Hyde Amendment. so I don’t know what he was doing there.

IIRC, the Hyde Amendment makes exception for cases of rape, incest or if the mothers health is at risk. The GOP has recently been trying to close or at least further restrict these restrictions.
