Eh, I’m a consultant on a daily rate; minimum 8 hours per day.
The partner-in-charge advised me, if at all possible, don’t work more than 9 hours a day, as neither of us are getting paid/credit for it.
Much better than the 12+ hour days (chargable hourly) at my previous client.
Whether I work 9 hours or 12, I get paid the same. The only advantage is that the lord-high partner, who doesn’t have any idea who I am, sees only total hours at the end of the period, and to him, the higher the better (cha-ching). Makes it easier for him to sign off on my raise/bonus when I’m nearer the top.
I’m still working on that. I may have a place to stay due to the gracious assistance of Cerowyn. I expect I’ll know anytime now. If it doesn’t work out, rest assured I will come a-grovelling in thorough and unbridled desperation.
Buy the way, who’s better looking, you or Bildo?..
…Strange I felt the shiver up my spine… kinda like that “Angry Spouses Eye of Death” shiver.
Some Manhattan YMCAs offer hotel rooms, and they are among the listings in the above-noted hostel site. Private rooms (bath down the hall) start at $35 a night. Certainly not ideal, but no worse than a college dorm, and the ones on the East Side (at 47th St.) and West Side (at 63rd) are in pretty good locations for a tourist.
I haven’t heard back about my possible Dec. 26 place-to-crash. For whom would I be less of a burden if it doesn’t go through? Zebra or the Two Billdos?
Well, I’m packed and ready to go! Oh, and my accommodations for the evening of the 26th look good! I’ve printed out my little subway maps, and should be good for public transportation.
Hey, so anyone wanna go to my ex-girlfriend-who-left-me-stranded’s music gig to heckle?..
crickets
No?..
Fine.
OF COURSE, I’m just joking. I wouldn’t do something like that. Oh, I’d fantasize about it plenty, but no, I wouldn’t actually be a putz. I’m a grown-up now!
I’ll have to find some fine vintage for my host who is putting me up for the nights of the 27th and 28th. Where are the good wine shops? When I was visiting my ex in Queens, the local shops didn’t have anything I thought would be suitable for a gift.
Grand Central Terminal has a wine shop (as well as a really nice marketplace). I haven’t bought any wine from there myself, but I’ve been told it has a very nice selection.
