Right, so who’s going to need help getting out of the train stations?

Not only a bump but a grind as well.

Son of a…

Ya know, I didn’t pay any attention to this thread because I knew I was busy. I knew this for the simple fact that I’m busy every single fricking weekend from mid-June to mid-August.

So, I just checked the calendar to see what was up for this weekend. Oh, lookit that…we’re going to Manhattan for the day. :smack:

Enjoy everyone! Hopefully I can make it to one of these soon. I had a lot of fun at the last one I went to but my schedule has been crazy this summer.

I’m planning on coming for the chatting/hanging out portion of the day, but then returning to my soundproof panic room to finish reading Harry Potter with my husband. I’m hoping we’ll have made a few hundred pages of progress before the Dopefest, but if any of you get it done beforehand, you have to solemnly swear not to discuss it!

Oh, and what’s the food plan? Am I bringing anything? I’ll probably be on bike, so something portable would be OK for me to bring.

(Hal, does this mean you can make an appearance? Brooklyn’s not that far, you know!!)

I can’t imagine that we’d be able to make it…I’m pretty sure we’ve got a pretty tight schedule going on. Still, just in case, I’ll e-mail Zebra to get the particulars, and who knows? Hopefully we’ll be able to at least pop in and say “hi”.

I have been trying to negotiate attending, but I don’t see how it can work - weekends are family time, so getting clearance for mid-afternoon “me” time (which is how this would be positioned by MY scheduling coordinator) I simply don’t think I can swing it - damn.

If this changes, I will email you, **zebra **- sorry. In the meantime, I will keep my eyes open for an evening/night Dopefest…

All right, I’m still going to be there. I just hammered down some details with Zebra who is graciously picking me up/dropping me off at GCS. I will be there from about 12 to about 6, depending on which train I catch either way - I’m afraid I won’t be staying for the concert.

However I look forward to seeing all of you.

Those weekend scheduling coordinators can be a real p.i.t.a., can’t they? Especially when one’s scheduling coordinator expects you to remember all the events you wished you weren’t going to but were told about 4 months ago.

Damn, I don’t think I’m going to make it - the 21st is the anniversary of the death of a friend of mine, and her family is having a gathering that day. I’ll keep following the thread, but I hope everybody has a kickass time.

So as of this moment, who is coming?

Me! I volunteer to meet people at 34th or Grand Central, if you’re unsure of the city navigation.
I will be wearing a very yellow (Or orange) Darwin T-Shirt.
Does anyone want to make a side trip to the Kwik-E-Mart?

Yes, sure! As for navigation, Zebra promises someone will be there to meet me. Who, I have no idea.

I don’t know what I’m wearing yet. Men can plan so early! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m think E-Sabbath will be the one to pick you up at GCT.
Wear a flower in you hair.

Ok,

I am making a bbq brisket, and will have sandwich rolls for brisket sandwiches.
I am also planning a several drink options including, but not limited to, soda, iced tea, sangria.

I will probably also whip up some sort of veggie dip, and of course veggies to dip.

We could use…

potato salad
deviled eggs
chips and
salsa, guac, other dip
a grill, charcoal, and fire
hamberger/hotdogs/brats
beer

A dloweR?

curses

Now I have to find a flower. And trust me, flowers don’t stick so good in my hair! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll carry a flower, how’s that?

E-Sabbath can hold up a sign with your name so everyone getting off the train will think you’re some sort of big deal. Wear huge sunglasses and a broad brimed hat.
Or you two could exchange phone numbers and you could call him when you get off the train.

I like the first idea, but grumbles I guess the second will do.

ETA: Only he doesn’t have PMing or e-mailing enabled. E-Sabbath, pm me please.

My regrets, but I found out today I will be unable to attend.

I hear you - but it’s more of a flexibility issue: I have limited availability during the week, so it is understood that I am available for family stuff on the weekends. So if a friend wants to head into the city to check out guitar stores or I want to see a new exhibit at the Met or something, I hit a big wall.

In the overall scheme of things it is fair and reasonable - my family DOES come first - but hey, a Dopefest is a Dopefest, dammit and missing one is a bummer…
