Blue was one of 3 shows that had me waiting ever so impatiently for the season premier! Well, now that I’m old, and have to get up at 6:30, an 11PM bedtime is a tad too late for me, so I had my husband video tape it for me. But about 20 minutes into the tape, the tape went bad, and I couldn’t watch the rest of it! AAAGGGGHHHH!
Please, please tell me what happened, so I won’t be “behind” next week!
IAB Guy is on trial for shooting Rodriguez (who is back to work, neither of them died or anything). IAB Guy (and/or his lawyer) is claiming that Lt. Rod. went for his gun first, and IABG was defending himself. Uh-oh, nobody actually witnessed how the confrontation started, the only one to see anything was the det. who shot IABG. She was on the stand testifying, and IABG’s lawyer was questioning why she shot IABG, since he could’ve been pointing his gun in defense.
So while this stuff is going on, of course the detectives are working a case. IIRC (and I might be mixed up because I watch the reruns, too), a guy gets shot in his apartment, and his brother is wounded in the arm. The brother turns out to be a convicted child molestor. He indicates that some of his victims’ parents have been harassing him, and may have killed his brother by mistake, trying to kill him. The shooter was wearing a mask, he says. He pleads that he was innocent of the child molestations, that he was tutoring the kids, busted them for stealing his CDs, so they made up the story. So they run down the kids’ parents, and some of them seem initially to be good suspects. Nothing pans out with them, though, and something doesn’t seem right. They found out the accused molestor visited his grandmother’s house all the time. She confirmed this. Catch: there’s a playground right across the street from grandma’s house. They talk to someone at the playground who identifies the molestor-guy as the “groundskeeper.” Long story short, the molestor-guy found out that his brother had found the uniform he wore to the playground and was going to turn him in to his parole officer. He shot his brother, but then chickened out trying to shoot himself and wounded himself in the arm.
I like the way how, over the course of the 11 years or so of the series, Andy has gotten much better at testifying on trial. They used to be afraid to let him on the stand; now he’s much more confident. He didn’t really do that badly, but he’s beating himself up over it.
One piece of key evidence is that the Lt’s gun was still holstered at the scene; that seems to contradict the “he drew first” theory. I wonder
The one thing not made crystal clear is that the trial of IAB guy “Fraker” – the bald lawyer is making the 15th look like dirty cops. Cops that might kill Fraker. Also, the pretty doctor introduced last season, is dating Clark and has been since May. She had to testify and the bald lawyer made it look like she was setting up Fraker too … I am not at all convinced Fraker will be found guilty
troub did an excellent job with the recap, but for future reference, check out NYPD Blue Online, which posts a detailed recap and review of the previous night’s Blue every Wednesday morning.
