I was watching the reruns of this show over the summer, but I missed how they got rid of the characters of Diane and Danny. Can someone fill me in? The last episode I saw, Diane was hinting that she wanted to transfer, but there was nothing about Danny leaving…
Diane took a transfer to another presinct, if I remember correctly.
We’ll find out what happened to Danny on tonight’s season premiere.
Diane took bereavement leave – she had a delayed reaction to Bobby’s death. She’d been coping OK for a while, but she was still in mourning. In the last few episodes she started living her life again (including what appears to be a somewhat serious relationship with the doctor who treated Bobby at the end) and that led to feelings of guilt and remorse that she had been able to suppress for the last 18 months or so.
We don’t know what happened to Danny. I doubt we’ll learn very much tonight or ever. Danny’s always been a very protective person, ever since he felt he had to be responsible for his sisters when his mom shipped them all from Norway to the States. This has caused him trouble in the past, but when he was unable to save J.B. he started to snap. Without any explanation or notice he just up and left. Of course, since a stripper he’d been seeing was found dead in his apartment soon after, it was originally assumed that he was running from the law, but Andy discovered that he had left before she ever came to his place and that somebody else had murdered her.

And of course Diane’s bereavement leave will last about one day longer than “Philly” does.
Whoa. I saw NYPD Blue tonight for the first time since Jimmy Smits’s character died. I have no idea who most of the people were (Danny, whoever that may be, is dead).
And the only real question I have is:
WHO is that beautiful man who is Metavoy’s partner and WHERE do I go to start stalking him???

I probably missed some. Talk about a show whose time has come…
Limerick, that beautiful man is Henry Simmons. I wish the writers would give him a personality. Or maybe an idiosyncrasy (sp?) or a quirk. Something a bit negative, to balance all that kindness, intelligence, reason and competence. He’s kinda boring.
Does anyone know what happened in the past between the elder Clark and Andy? Was it something that happened before the show started, or did I miss some early episodes?
I’m sorry Danny’s gone. I thought the interlude with Diane was a bit contrived, but their later friendship seemed genuine.
Does anyone else feel a bit shortchanged, that we never really knew what was bothering Danny, about his family?
I kept waiting for an explanation, a revelation. Seems like it had to be more than a feeling that he let them down, to account for some of the stuff he did, and the way he treated people.
