O.J. Simpson: Paroled on Some Convictions. (Mod: W/ July 2017 update)

He’s requesting he be allowed to live in Florida.

Don’t matter. He’ll violate and be back in beautiful Lovelock pretty soon.

TMZ must be going nuts planning for his release day.

What parole conditions would he have?

I don’t think he’ll violate parole. He’s lost time off of his life, and he is, what? 70 now? I hope he’s learned his lesson about laws, and yes I think he knows how badly society wants him to pay for the double murders.

I just recorded the 5 parts OJ Made in America miniseries, and I’ll watch it again.

He had his oldest daughter with him, and news reports said his youngest son had no comment on the matter and refused to open his door, making me believe this son wants nothing to do with his father?

I couldn’t find anywhere what his relationship is now with his other 2 kids.

I’d like to know why anyone thinks this warrants Truman Show-esque coverage.

That’s pretty obvious. Television stations make money by selling advertising. The more people who watch, the more they can charge for ad time. Many people are very interested in following this. I’ll leave the rest for you to figure out.

Well, c’mon. He’s infamous and notorious for getting “away with it”. A double homicide, plus being an egregious domestic violence and serial abuser for over 17 years that he laid upon Nicole before he murdered her and Ron. She was hospitalized, was very vocal about it, and even left a fucking trail in a safe, that basically laid out with written and photographic evidence that if she’s found dead, it was O.J.

It’s entirely sensational, but worse yet, it’s true, he got away with it and now he’ll be back out there.

Armed robbery is “non-violent”? Since when? And since when does it say you’re allowed to commit said robbery if you’re going after your own possessions?

Jesus, that’s nuts.

Or it could just mean he didn’t want to talk to the press.

Chris Darden is giving interviews.

Nothing’s changed regarding the civil suit judgement against Simpson. He won’t be able to earn any money without it immediately being seized.

That at least means Simpson won’t be out there profiting off his notoriety. He may give an interview but Goldman’s lawyers will be prepared to seize any money.

His NFL pension is protected against civil judgements. It’s apparently enough to live on.

Heard a good point on the radio this morning. A parole violation in these cases usually isn’t him grabbing a gun and holding someone else up, or immediately trying to rape a girl or whatever. It’s usually a violation of a minor offense that slips someone’s mind.

In OJs case, because there was alcohol involved in his robbery, he might not be allowed to drink. So who’s to say that he’s having a BBQ with family and has a beer with his steak? Yes, it’s easy for us to say “well, just don’t do it”, but it’s cases like that which causes a parole violation much more than another crazy crime

Yep. Like tax evasion for Al Capone.

After next month’s solar eclipse I’ll be driving back by way of Lovelock NV. OJ will still be there. Should I stop in for a visit?

If a person gets away with a double murder and still breaks the law, I doubt he is capable of learning anything. If I were OJ shudder I would not have jaywalked, much less commit armed robbery.

“Yeah, but I wasn’t armed and I was only getting back my own possessions and I was driml.”

He also said at his parole hearing that he “never had a conflict with anyone.” I think a few people might disagree with that idea.

Whether this is intentional drunk-style typing or not, I’m going to steal this.

I could be wrong but I’m thinking a 70 year old with health issues isn’t going on a crime spree any time soon.

I don’t want to rehash what was said in the thread from the time. I remember looking into the various laws at the time. As I remember he received the right sentence for the crime. Where the harshness of the penalty comes in is with Nevada’s very broad kidnapping statute. In most states what he did would be considered criminal restraint not kidnapping.

He’s allowed to drink, but only in moderation. He’ll be tested and his BAC cannot exceed 0.08%. If he were to get a prescription for medical marijuana, he also would be allowed to smoke it.

The thread title was no longer accurate so I changed it to indicate this is an update.
