phantomdiver - I shall lead you to the smileys.

Go down to the last post on this page. Keep going.
Past the Reply box. Past the ‘Title’ box. Past where it says ‘Options:’. And just past the “Forum Jump:”.

Just below the ‘Forum Jump’ box, there’s a box that says “Forum Rules”. In the right half of that box, there’s a link to Smilies. So it’s always there when you need it.

BTW, two-character smilies like  and  seem to overrule ‘word’ smilies like  and  - so ) will give you :eek followed by a standard smiley, rather than the  icon followed by a parenthesis. (I’ve disabled smilies here for the tutorial.)

Mr. Firefly, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you!

I’m sorry I missed you folks. It sounds like a great party! Also, simply because I can, ultrafilter, you do realize it’s your fault I missed it. After all, if you’d been able to persuade that boss of yours that one more code wouldn’t hurt the budget . . .

Anyway, I’ll get down to DC one of these days, and, when I do, I’ll let you know.

Well, when you finally do get down here, I’ll buy you a drink.

And if that isn’t incentive to hurry down, I don’t know what is.

Then again, there’s a lot of things I don’t know…

[sub]Where’s the vapid smiley when you need him?[/sub]

Apparently some posts got eaten during the down time, since I recall posting to this thread – and seeing it there, so the hamsters didn’t eat it (immediately, anyway) – acknowledging the great time I had and thanking everybody for gracing the evening with their presence, and in particular thanking Tris for dinner and the Firefly clan for bed and breakfast. (Freedonia has a wonderful White House; while Mr. Lincoln may not have his own bed there, the cast of Charlotte’s Web and several Russian composers do.)

And I second the motion that we find a quieter venue – since I have trouble parsing conversation when the ambient noise level is high, and we had a table in the middle of the Olive Garden’s largest dining area, I know I missed a great deal of what iampunha and phantomdiver had to say, and parts of what several others interjected. Ruth is everything they’ve said, and (drawn in a dozen directions by other conversations) I did not converse with her much, though we sat next to each other, but I do hope she forgives that and I look forward to seeing more of everybody.

Barb and I will definitely be making it to Dope-a-Ween, deo volente flumines non ascendentesque.

Yaaaaaay!!!

If I’ve heard that phrase once, I’ve heard it a hundred times, but I think this is the first time I’ve seen it in Latin.
