Nevermind. I discoverd the “classic” method.

Are we reserving the top 6 or so confidence spots for the BCS games? Or, if we have inside info on the Beef O’ Brady’s Bowl, we can allot that 35 points if we want?
Confidence points are at your own discretion. They express how confident you are about that particular pick.
Yes, I get that.
I just remember that either last year or the year before, Oak had a rule that the top 6 or so confidence points were to be reserved for the major bowl games like the Fiesta and Rose. Just wasn’t sure whether we were doing that again this year.
I only played in last year’s Bowl Pick’em so I wasn’t aware of that restriction. If it’s in play this year, I didn’t know about it and set my confidence points the way I did in the regular season. Maybe we need Oak’s word on this. Sorry I butted in.
Honestly, I don’t remember if we used that rule last year or not. I remember there was some discussion of it, but that’s all. However, since no such rule was announced prior to the start of selections for this year’s game, no such rule exists. Feel free to assign confidence points as you see fit.
This is hard! Not having any horrible mis-matches will do that, I guess. Other than that Boise State will crush ASU in the MAACO bowl, I don’t have a clue.
I notice that there are 3 SEC - Big 10 matchups; I wish the Pac 12 would get a bowl tie-in with the SEC.
And there is a Pac-12-Big 10 game – Illinois (6-6) vs UCLA (6-7) in the Fight Hunger Bowl; kinda the Rose Bowl from Hell.
Knorf’s Rubbish Picks now listed. I predict horrifying losses.
Damn…I need to get this done tonight or tomorrow morning! First bowl kicks off Saturday afternoon.
I thought you were you were a PAC-12 fan? you want to see your conference demolished?
FWIW, you don’t have to do all the games now. I only picked this weekend games, plus Boise (high confidence points there!)
I am counting 19 players! YES!
Perhaps an interesting side question might be, “How many of these games are you planning to watch?”
In my case I’ll see maybe 10 of them. Perhaps a few more if that day’s TV really sucks.
notfrommensa: Based on the rare OOC matchups in the recent past (mostly LSU and Tennessee), I like the Pac’s chances. Besides, its put-up-or-shut-up time.
zeldar: during bowl week (the most wonderful time of the year) and New Year’s Weekend I’ll turn on any game if I happen to be around a TV, and stick with it if it turns out interesting.
I will be physically in attendance for the Holiday Bowl. Go Bears…beat the Horns!
I will probably catch parts of most of the games. I will make a point to watch about 10 of them that have AQ teams.
matchups between the MAC and Sunbelt conferences won’t interest me too much, unless I have absolutely nothing else going on.
Hasn’t LSU won the last 4 or so meetings agaist the Pac-10? I seem to recall LSU playing Oregon, Oregon St., Washington, and one of the Arizona teams in the last 4-5 years. And winnning every one. Hmmm, I don’t like the Pac’s chances.
One of those wins depended on Oregon State missing a last second chip shot FG, though, so I count that as a toss-up.
And Tennessee is (off the top of my head) 1-5 against the Pac in the last 6 years.
It’s actually better than I thought: the Pac is 12-11 against the SEC since 2000 (the linked article was written before last year’s NCG or this year’s Oregon-LSU game).
Tennessee is 4-12 against the SEC in the last two year.
And UCLA is 7-11 against the Pac. Our bottom-dweller is better than your bottom-dweller.
But let’s just look at the bottom line again: 12-11 since 2000. Looks like a pretty good match up to me.
Me too! ::secret handshake:: I’m dragging my brother with me because my friends are all being wimps this year! GO BEARS!
