As it happens, I think I’ll be in first place this week. I’m also perfect so far, and I had only 8 points on the Florida game. One person had 3, but missed a game, and another person also had 8 but missed a game or two…
All right Oak…and whoever else was perfect, who were your tiebreakers?
I got the Baylor/SMU score as 52-24 and Tenn/Ut St game as 38-17 (that was pretty close)
Got Baylor (45 and counting) as scoring the most points and Liberty (29 and no chance) scoring the least.
BTW OAK…who was your upset special.
I messed up the first tiebreaker…I had Baylor 23-10 over SMU, actual result was 45-0, and for some reason I had Utah State over Tenn 27-24 even though I picked Tenn to win. I’m guessing it was a typo, and I meant to go 17-24.
Second tiebreaker was Fl St to score the most and Arkansas to score the least. Really did not think that one through. Southern Miss was the obvious choice for least points scored. Oregon looks like they scored the most at 62.
As for my upset specials…
Not so fast, Oaky. You paint yourself as an SEC fan, with your HAIL STATE, GEAUX TIGERS, HODDY TODDY, [del]ROLL TIDE[/del] WDE!, but a REAL SEC fan would know not give Florida 15 points (confidence or otherwise).
I’m not perfect, but I am in the lead. My secret? Never give anything to Florida you don’t have to.
As for your Upset Special, it could only have been better if both teams could have lost by two touchdowns. I was really hoping the Aggies wouldn’t know what to do without their Idol, Johnny Football, but seeing Spurrier have his rear end handed to him ranks up there with having Saban’s handed his in the Iron Bowl. I guess seeing Tennessee hand it to Utah State will have to sate my Aggie loathing for the time being.

Indeed. I miscalculated, and ended up in 2nd. But that doesn’t harsh my buzz. Football is back, and the NFL starts this week. 
It just ain’t right to be in 5th place after picking every game correctly.

It can’t be the AP numbers. Must be Yahoo! somehow. Even so, another Yahoo! Pick’em I play has been up almost as soon as the last game was played yesterday. Of course, that one didn’t have anything to say about AP rankings and was just some hodgepodge of “Yahoo default and Southeastern conference games” with 30 games to have to pick.

Gawd, another weekend full of body bag games. Lamar? Northwestern State? Who are these guys?
Unfortunately I’m going to be attending one such game (Sacramento State @ Cal) and will miss the only decent games on the docket (MSU @ Oregon, USC @ Stanfurd)
This must really help somebody’s strategy, is all I can figure. Zooming in on the Top 1/4 to 1/3 of the teams that suit up for football (all divisions!) would make more sense to me, but I’m just here for the giggles. I have yet to back up my 100% guesswork with any money at all. Just pride and sense of fellowship is all I get from it.
AJA: We really ought to devote a thread to some of the colorful terminology that pops up in these discussions. Things like:
body bag games
dumpster fire
etc.

The tiebreakers are tough though.
Make it more difficult on who to pick to score the most points. And the fewest points.
And I still want my 15 points for the Florida / Idaho game from last week.
I guess I am not going to get my 15 points.

Sorry, fellas. The Cornhuskers are beginning a new dynasty this year. Nobody will beat them for the next 25-30 games. We don’t play any games in Texas, where a football game is 60 minutes plus 1 second, long. Or, whatever is needed by the home team.
