Convincing people in this mindset is like asking someone to make a penrose triangle out of a solid piece of wood. It can’t be done. I’m generally not that pessimistic, but reading through some peoples posts and venturing out to the blogosphere to see what some of these wingnuts actually think makes me believe they truly do not understand more than one point of view at a time. This time it happens to be Rush Limbaugh’s point of view. Silly really, because they choose to get their info from a truly ignorant source and not from any reputable cites.
Even worse than that. In getting their info from Limbaugh, they’re getting their info from a source who lies despite knowing the actual truth.
13 million listeners each week…friggin unbelievable. Oddly, here’s a Conservative Christian Pastor who says don’t listen to Rush Limbaugh. Maybe he says that because he’s got his Phd…
My boss is an openly gay super-liberal attorney. He listens to Rush every day.
I think he gets a kick out of being told he’s a degenerate, or something.
Sounds like he’s a pervert. Not for being gay or super-liberal.
I don’t see what that has to do with drug use at all. That was asking if he’d ever been convicted, not whether or not he’d done drugs. Unless he’d been caught with drugs (something I’m positive never happened) then he would have been telling the truth. I’ve done drugs and answer “no” to that question all the time. I’m telling the truth because I was never caught.
Carol Stream, this is pretty pathetic even for you.
If you want to know if Barack Obama ever used illegal drugs, ask him. He’s never made the least effort to conceal it. While you’re at it, ask roughly 50% or better of the people my age (52) or younger in the country.
If you want to question whether or not Barack Obama is a citizen, don’t you think the Department of Immigration would have maybe noticed his existence by now? The man is a U.S. Senator. He has a real, documented, unforged birth certificate. Yes he had nicknames as a child, and yes, he had a step father. What do those things have to do with his positions or his qualifications to be president?
If these are the best you guys can come up with, you’re going DOWN.
Absolutely. But some people, apparently, think that’s splitting hairs. I don’t understand it.
It’s a talking point. That’s all you need to understand.
ETA: It’s not the blowjob; it’s the perjury about the blowjob!
You’re giving Carol too much credit. These weren’t even good attacks on Obama a year ago.
Bolding mine.
And we’re seeing to that.
It’s sure a lot more interesting than the “Morning zoo crew” shows. With a right wing talk show host you at least get to engage your brain; you can think “Hmm, now, he just said X. Is that true? How could that be false, or spun? What is he leaving out?” For a liberal equivalent, I read The Toronto Star, which forces me to ask the same questions.
Sure beats listening to Pudge and Steve, the Zoo Crew on 103.7 (“The Wolf!”) make fart noises.
You guys get the Wolf in Ontario no? That’s cool.
That’s OK - McCain has enough policies to represent both sides of 74 issues (and counting). He’s such a maverick, he even rebels against his own stances on a regular basis!
I didn’t fill out the Illinois bar application, but I did fill out the Florida bar application, and it has a similarly extensive line of questioning. The consequence of not being forthright or completely truthful, however, is not criminal prosecution (as with perjury). Rather, it’s not being admitted.
Given how extensive the background check the bar does (as an example, my friend was informed that he had an unpaid account at a local video store from 5 years ago by the bar, which he had to explain. I, as another example, had to explain why I hadn’t disclosed my prior employment at a hotel. The confusion arose because I reported working for the subcontracted pool and beach management company. So, while I had worked at the hotel, I never worked for the hotel. Another friend had to explain how he had managed to intern at the capital one summer without changing his address - the answer was that he slept on a friend’s couch for a few months), I’d say Obama’s admission to practice law is pretty good evidence that he has no unreported dirt in his past. If he did, in fact, have aliases, they’d have picked up on it, and his non-disclosure would have seriously delayed, if not outright denied, his license to practice law.
For all of the jokes about the integrity of lawyers, we’re one of the most thoroughly vetted professions there is.
From the AP tonight…
Talk about McCain’s wife’s money? P.O.W.!!!
The fact that he is a citizen of Kenya and Indonesia, and therefore Constitutioanlly inelegible to be President.
It Must Be True, It is Capitoalizzed
Kenya does not allow dual citizenship, nor was there any reason for it any more than the child of my friend from Spain who married an American was a Spanish citizen. The child was born and raised here, not in Spain. Or Kenya. There was never any question of Baraks’s being a citizen of Indonesia. He lived there for a few years as a kid. Just as do a lot of military kids, like John McCain, who is NOT a citizen of Panama, even though he was born there.
You’re rather desperately grasping at straws. Do you not think the Democratic Party would have vetted this in advance? Or are you just so certain that you can’t convince people on the basis of issues that you have to go to the incredibly ignorant and none-too-bright and try to foist this crap on them?
What the Democratic Party, especially Michelle Obama, was saying tonight really is true. The Democrats this year are trying to convey hope. All the Republicans have to offer anyone with an income under about a million a year is still fear. This guy is “different,” better not take the “risk.” Mind you, they can’t tell you what the risk is of. It’s just “risky.”
