Obama Inauguration celebration?

I’m returning home to Chicago for the Inauguration. My wife is not going to be watching because of Rick Warren’s participation. I understand and I hate the idea that this homophobe will be there, but then I’m offended by the entire idea that there has to be any religious aspect to this ceremony in the first place. But dammit, I worked far too hard to get him elected to let the presence of one pinhead spoil my celebration!

So, where can I go in the city to watch the Inauguration? It has to be reachable via CTA. I looked at the listings on barackobama.com and none of them jumped out at me. Any Chi Doper suggestions?

Maybe it’s not sufficiently reverent, but I think a sports bar with a bunch of big screen TVs is what you want. This is Chicago, after all. If you want something a little fancier, here’s a list:

Thanks for the list. I’m not a drinker, so I’m not really into seeing it at a bar. It’s a shame the planned viewing party at the Aragon Ballroom was canceled. Wish I had heard of the theatrical presentation at the Village North before it sold out.

Well, watching the inauguration from the Berghoff (assuming it’s not packed) doesn’t sound so bad.

Here’s to a good inaguration. Thanks again for coming down to help, gaffa.

You’re welcome.

Wound up seeing the event at the Landmark Century in a theater filled with rabid Democratic partisans - and wasn’t the only one hissing with Rick Warren was introduced.
