Thats only 2500 persons out of an estimated 5 million illegals who fall into this category. LINK This is down 80% since 2009.
So a person can just come to the US on say a tourist visa and just stay as long as they like.

That’s pretty impressive considering he’s President and has other things to do. Where does he find the time?
U.s.a.! U.s.a.!
Hey- I think the software don’t like my caps!
I hate to drag facts into floor remarks by a U.S. Representative, but if Homeland Security is so damned important, why won’t Congress appropiate what they’re asked for?
Okay, so the department didn’t get what they asked for, but at least some obligations were shifted to other departments, right? Well, not exactly.
Emphasis mine.
Nah, it likes U caps just fine.
I was not aware that Obama personally deported anyone. Thought there were government agencies to handle that.
Damnit those Visa card holders better pay up soon, or Obama’s going to personally deport their asses! We’ve been coddling them way too long!
It works out to less than seven a day. Obama can get that done before lunch and still have all afternoon to devote to his primary mission of fighting space robots.
The false wording of the OP’s thread title is yet another desperate attempt by Obama haters to misrepresent facts.
Simple fact is that Obama doesn’t want to go after illegal immigrants just like he doesn’t want to go after marijuana users. I think that his blanket policy of non-enforcement in these two areas are in principal a violation of the Take Care Clause and Congress has three options
I was not aware that Obama was running for re-election.
You don’t need to run when you’re going to declare martial law and cancel the election.
Bullshit. Jokes aside, the President does not deport people. It’s a job that’s performed by federal employees. And the problem is that Congress, with its Republican majority. doesn’t want to appropriate money to pay for those federal employees.
That’s fine. It’s a policy decision on how much government services we want. But the Republicans don’t get to decide they don’t want to pay for government services and then complain that it’s the President’s fault when those services don’t occur.
There have been absolutely ZERO murders of American citizens by the space robots since January of 2009, so I’d have to say the President is doing a damn fine job.
Did I ever say he did? He directed the INS to not enforce the immigration laws as strictly than they did before but nothing I said implied Obama personally gives them a box lunch and puts them on the bus to Mexico.
They’re not immigrants. These are people here on some form of visa. That means they came here legally and stayed past the limits of their visa.
How do you propose that such visitors be tracked? As far as I know, there’s no sort of tracking chip that can be used to track over-stayers.
My mistake. When you suggested they “Impeach him for it” I thought you were talking about Obama. Who were you suggesting they impeach?
As I said above, Congress chose to limit the resources the Executive department has to work with. So the President has to establish priorities. Obama decided that tourists who’ve stayed past the end of their visa are not as high a priority as terrorists and drug smugglers. In my opinion, he made the right decision.
Ideally, the federal government would have the resources to go after all the people who break a federal law. But the Republicans in Congress have decided otherwise so we have to live with this situation.
You’ve convinced me-I’m not voting for him.
Yes, the official line is that they have focused efforts on criminals. Apparently that has to do with getting greater local/state cooperation not just a budget issue.
https://www.ice.gov/removal-statistics
According to their numbers, 31% of 369,221 removals in 2008 were convicted criminals and 59% of 235,413 removals in 2015 were. So that means the number of criminals removed rose from 114,458 to 138,893. (Includes removals at or near border crossings)
