Obama or Hilary-- who has the better chance?

I agree with this statement.

I think he’s taken the Colin Powell course on How-to-sell-the-most-books-while-pretending-to-run-for-President.

He’s unlikely to run, and if he were to run, he would lose to Hil-uh-ree in a landslide.
Now, if he’s got the stones to be her veep, the election would be over today.

The republicans could resurrect Reagan, and they’d still lose. It’s hard to keep the dems base focused, but tie HRC and Obama-lama together, and it’s the mother of all three legged races.

I do believe that Hollywood would simply implode at the news.

Exactly.

Yeah, which is why I fear for the country. After all, prejudicial perceptions are how we got stuck with GWB in the first place…

Well, yeah, sadly there is that to hark back to, isn’t there?

:smack: Stupid me. I misread the OP and was thinking we were debating who would have a better chance to win against a Republican opponent. I think I was mislead by the title. But now I undertand why 2010 was chosen…

I need to rethink this whole idea, but my first impression is that it doesn’t make much sense as a hypothetical because the US would have to be an entirely different country to have those two running against each other. I mean, are we also supposed to assume that they’re in the same party? If not, which is in which party? Lots of people vote for the party more than the person.

I think Obama will be president one day, but not now.

Hillary doesn’t stand a chance.

I think I need to clarify.

In this alternate universe, Osama and Clinton are running against each other for President.

In the general election or in the primary?

oooo there’s a doozy of a freudian slip

She said running, not rubbing.

NOW it’s Osama! Well, HRC can beat him anyway.

Dang it! I was oh so careful the first 10 ten times I typed the name.

alphaboi867I mean in a general election.

Obama, but neither have a chance in hell.

NOW we want to decide who can win in Hell?! Osama. No contest.
Black Dopers,
How do you think the urban Black subculture, those who embrace Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, would take to him in a general? He’s not really one of them. His father was not of African-American roots, but a Black African, an entirely different culture at this point. He was raised by his White Kansan mother in Hawaii in a White family. Sure, he has embraced identity with Black America, but does Black America embrace him back?

Yes, because of the following reasons:

  1. He’s a democrat

  2. To my knowledge, he’s on the “right” side of most Black issues

  3. He seems to pretty comfortable around Black people

  4. He doesn’t seem afraid to discuss Black issues

  5. Married a Black woman

Plus, I think Hillary would beat him by a pretty wide margin.

Obama and Hillary, running against each other in the general election? The Republican candidate wins, whoever he or she is. Easily.

Obama and Hillary, running against each other in the primaries? Hmmm. That’s a tougher one. My money would be on Obama. Hillary is hated with the heat of a thousand suns by most Republicans. Most Democrats know that, and they’ll reeeeeeeeeeeally want to win the next time around. With such sky-high negatives, I strongly doubt that Hillary could win in a general election, so someone will emerge as an alternative in the primaries. That person might very well be Obama, who’s bright, articulate, has an upbeat and positive life story, and a good political line.

Between Hillary, with all of her baggage, and Obama, who (at the moment, at least) is a virtual rock star, Obama wins. In November, more independents and moderate Republicans would vote for him than would ever vote for Hillary, too, so it’s all good.

I repeat.
