None of those are necessary conditions to being tried under U.S. law. It may or may not be a bad policy decision to try KSM in civilian federal courts, but legally they’re on solid ground to do so. If the allegations are true, he’s violated well established federal law without ever having set foot here. It’s nothing new, either; Osama bin Laden was indicted in New York in 1998 for the embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania.
I think comparing Cheney to any random person on the left is a red herring. Cheney is a former VP, and should have a tad more class than Anne Coulter or Michael Moore. Not saying AC is “on the left”, but that both of those guys can say some outrageous things about their political opponents.
That’s a good point. That brings us back to whether Bush really did betray the country - after all, if Gore said it and it was true, it’s hardly a justification for Cheney’s use of similar language (and I do think it’s similar language).
Bwahahahahahahaha you are one stupid [word I can’t say because the BBQ Pit has been invaded by namby-pambies].
Must have missed his GD thread.
You pegged it in one with the masturbation comment.

The reason we have a trial is to determine whether a person is innocent or guilty. So many are declaring a guilty verdict before it happens. Let us go through the process. If he is let off because of horrible things we have done ,that is our fault. We deserve it.
If we wont let him have a trial ,we are saying he is not worth as much as an American. That is a lousy message to send. But having a trial is a great message to send to the world.
Besides ,do you think Obama would have allowed a trial ,if he had a chance of being let off? They went through the evidence thoroughly before making the decision.
What annoys me more is not so much the accusation, but the rather blatant coyness of it. If Obama is a traitor - if he is genuinely granting a boon to whichever enemies, if what he’s doing is so egregious, then for fuck’s sake come out and say so. It’s kind of an important issue. I can only speak for myself, but if I had a considerable national platform and was convinced that the leader of my country was committing treason, you wouldn’t be able to drag me away from the podium, and i’d be using considerably more certain language than this. Wishy-washying it down only shows that the prime consideration is not the country, nor the people, but the politics. This is an excellently worded politically suggestive statement. That’s why it’s so terrible.
Action McNews…
A protester described by witnesses as “homeless looking” and “maybe crazy” was killed today while attempting to harass Mr. Cheney. Officers had inadvertently set their tazers on “disintegrate, and the protester was accidentally vaporized while screaming “Sight? Sight?” at Mr. Cheney. The significance of that has yet to be determined, but there is unofficial speculation that its something terrorist…”
 Giving accused criminals a public trial! What an un-American idea!
I wonder if Cheney’s purpose is to keep the extreme right fired up, so that if by some miracle, Obama does solve most of the problems he was left with, that will give the extreme right a new reason to still hate him and not make Cheney look so wrong?
No matter what Obama does he will be criticized, even if he succeds, that is why people like Rush want Obama to fail!
