Obama tries to snake Leno’s coffee

Hyperbole aside (1st sitting president on TV, Obama himself, etc…) President Barack Obama appeared on Leno tonight!

Polite intros, serious questions, blah blah blah. Commercial break.

More serious questions. Some good answers (IMO). And we get ready for 2nd break.

Right before the second break for ads, the camera panned out (or they moved to the further camera, whatever – IANATV producer)…Leno and The President are still making small talk and Obama reaches for the coffee nearest him, which happens to be Leno’s. Just before he gets the mug off the desk, Jay corrects him and points out the other coffee cup.

They laughed about it. Then cut to ad.

I’d have LOVED to hear a joke along the lines of
“I’m the President. This is my coffee.”
“You’re saying I can’t have this coffee?”
“What’chu talkin’ 'bout, Leno?”
Or whatever.

Maybe I’m just not that witty. :frowning:
Did anybody else see that?

“Excuse me, Mr President, but I think you’ve got my coffee.”
“Jay, do any of the heavily armed men in this room work for you?”
“No, Mr President.”
“Then I guess it’s my coffee now.”

“Excuse me, Mr. President, I think that’s my coffee.”
“No, Jay, it’s the American people’s coffee now.”

I was under the impression that the mugs on talk show sets are filled with water, not coffee.

“Excuse me, Mr President, but I think you’ve got my coffee.”
“Tell you what Jay, I’ll take 90%, and leave you the rest.”

“Excuse me, Mr President, but I think you’ve got my coffee.”
“Whew, thanks Jay. Last thing I want is a sip of your chin.”
