Ha, true. Does anyone else like the BBC sketch comedy show That Mitchell and Webb Look? The other day I saw a hilarious sketch in which they play Waffen SS officers in the midst of a battle on the Eastern Front. The Waffen SS, you’ll recall, famously had the skull “death’s head” insignia on their helmets.
So the following conversation ensues (paraphrased from memory; keep in mind that “baddies” is a Briticism for “bad guys”):
W: That will show those cowardly Russian bastards!
M: Yeah. Hey, so I just noticed we have skulls on our helmets.
W: Uhhh…yeah, so?
M: Skulls. Skulls. Kind of scary looking, don’t you think?
W: I suppose. What’s your point?
M: It’s just making me wonder…do you think maybe *we’re *the baddies?
I loved that skit. Does bringing it up count as godwinizing against all of us, though?
Second Nazi: I mean, what do skulls make you think of? Death… cannibals… beheading… pirates…
Hans: Pirates are fun!
Second Nazi: I didn’t say we weren’t fun, but fun or not pirates are still the baddies.
If I had the option to appoint anyone in the world President of the United States, would I choose Obama? Probably not. I lean pretty far to the left and we don’t agree on plenty of things.
If there was one person I did not, under any circumstances, ever want near the White House, would it be Romney? No, I’m sure there could be worse things than a Romney presidency.
But if I had to choose between Obama and Romney, I would choose Obama.
