Obi Wan Kenobi series to start filming in March, {Now showing as of June 2022}

Remember the sing-song tone of voice in which the Third Sister called out to Obi-Wan?

I made a meme.

Was anybody else waiting for the Organas to tell Kenobi he was their only hope?

Very promising episodes. The reviews I’ve seen online haven’t been great (just okay), but I thought these episodes fit perfectly to the character we know of Obi-Wan, and his actions fit his motivations. Which is what makes it a step back up from Boba Fett – that show really didn’t fit the character of Boba Fett that we knew; it made him cuddly and naive, with very unclear motivations. And I’m glad we got off of Tattooine!

It was great to see Alderaan! The original trilogy only showed it in bits and pieces.

I did. It was quite jarring.
I’m not a huge Star Wars fan, so perhaps the killing teachers and children part of it isn’t as status quo for me. That Star Wars lore predates the recent rise of school shootings, but not being as familiar with Star Wars, I found the scene quite upsetting. Not in an outrage way, but more of a shit that’s bad timing/coincidence.

Anyway my real question is uncle Owen and the “uncle” part. How is he related to Luke? I thought anakin was immaculately conceived. Does anakin have a brother? How does that work? Do they know each other? They didn’t grow up together did they? Why would Owen give a fuck about Luke?
Or is he “uncle” in a close friend way? That doesn’t really make sense to me either…
Or is this a “don’t ask questions” sort of plot element?

At first I thought it was Naboo.

Owen is Anakin’s step brother, and thus Luke’s step uncle.

Owen’s father married Darth Vader’s mother. So he is a step-uncle.

Ben has a lot of aging to do in the next few years.

Anakin’s mother married a widower with an adult child - Owen. Owen took Luke in out of respect for his father and stepmother, because he and his wife wanted a child of their own, and because he was a decent person… As for why he cared for him: raising him from an infant as his own child probably had something to do with it.

Indeed.

Fun fact: Ewan McGregor is now 51 years old.

The original movie takes place 9 years after the events of this TV series; Sir Alec Guinness was 63 years old when Star Wars premiered in 1977. So, there’ll effectively be only 3 years’ difference between the ages of the actors at that point.

I guess actors age better these days, or something.

Something that just occurred to me - if that clone trooper Obi-Wan saw begging on the street had recognized him, he would have immediately tried to kill him, wouldn’t he?

Desert, and 2 suns will age anyone with obi-wan’s complexion rapidly. Look at Robert Redford, not a big fan of sunscreen and moisturizer, is he.

Probably so, unless he was able to resist the order, and/or had his inhibitor chip removed, as Captain Rex (one of the characters from the Clone Wars animated series) did.

I can’t wait for the follow up series; they’re already putting out promos:

Stranger

To air after If/Else, the sequel series to And/Or.

Very disappointed no one noticed this great joke that I stole from reddit.

I was amused.

I was pleased to see Alderaan, but I was disappointed not to see any thrantas.
